I swear by soaking it in white spirit, scrubbing then drying. So clean it jangles.

Oh chains??

Prompted by andyp's reasonable objection I've found that Co-op own brand babywipes are biodegradable and pretty cheap.

I've never bought a proper chain cleaning kit, since I would clean chains with household cleaners and equipment. But my chain is getting extra mucky,
so thought I'd get one. But some are £30.oo!! Are they kidding! Just for some bits of plastic?! So I searched for cheaper alternatives, and found what
I was looking for at a 1/3 of the some of the prices I'd seen. I thought I'd share it.

I really am against paying more than is necessary for a similar product. But I still want a clean chain. Cheers Courant for the Rock and Roll recommendation.

Those chain cleaner thingies are crap. Removing the chain and degreasing it is effective but gets me in trouble with my other half. I've since discovered Rock and Roll chain lube and the stuff is the bomb - cleans and lubes in one easy application. (I sound like an ad...) It seriously works well, try it!

The guy in that video seems to be using some kind of cloth. I know it's on a roll but even the legendary Bounty kitchen towel disintegrates when being wound around a chainring. Anyone got any ideas of what it actually is? I want some.

+1 for Rock n roll lube. You drizzle it on chain, spin cranks for a bit ,then wipe of all excess so chain is clean and dry to look at.I've used it for a while -it's good stuff
^It's OK I flushed mine down the toilet*
*no I didn't.
