220-Max HR = running age?

run a 3 hour marathon before I hit 40.
I reckon you could do it, but you're going to have to put a shitload of training in.

For serious?
I think it's time to focus on my running, I almost need to start again as I run very wonky, my plans for next year are: get faster!

Oops it was a flippant comment in reply to
hopefully lots of people read it and let me run the London marathon
I.e. you can have my place as I read the article & won't be entering London. This improves your chances of ballot success tho surely?

Anyone else heading to the finish of the 24 hour at Tooting Athletics track (midday today) ?
-

Did a total of 27 miles yesterday, probably 16 or so on some nice hilly trails.
Somehow dragged myself out for the club ride this morning. Now in agony.

I went to Parliament Hill track and did 400m, 800m and 1500m. It was fun setting beatable PBs. Technically they probably aren't PBs, but I can't remember what I used to do at school.

Swansea Bay 10k today, decided not to go for the sensible follow the pacer route but didn't go off like a loony either :)
It was really hot so I was very happy to finish in 39.22 which is a new pb, 132nd out of 3350 so pretty chuffed. :)

Southern Road Relays at Aldershot. an undulating two laps that i went out way too fast one as well as suffering the driest mouth ever for the first 5 minutes - possibly a sign i was pushing too fast.
My team came 37th which isn't bad for a B team. Our A team came third.

Went for a run yesterday, legs hurt.
Went for a run today - legs really, really hurt. Had to sit on a wall for a bit, then walked it off.
I suspect too much mileage, too soon - or rather too much intensity, too soon?
Anyway- give it a couple of days, then back out running but endurace rather than tempo?

Nope. Atleast for me that doesn't work.
Can hit over 200 and I'm past 20 so...
Also need new shoes. Anyone know a place that sell 2014 air max on sale atm?
-
• #9539
You run in Air Max? What type?
Think I came 7th or 8th in a 10k yesterday, which was...surprising. I was in 4th until about 8k.

I'd like to give them a try as they felt great last year when tried on.
Nothing competitive, going out for jogs occasionally. Mostly twice a week when I have the chance. My old nikes need replacing so figured out why not go for something that looks nice and feels good.

I'd go for pegasus over max or free 5.0 if you don't want as much support

anyone planning their running up to and beyond October might want to have a look at this: http://www.trailscape.co.uk
A friend of a friend has set it up so no promises about the quality. I am going to give the half a shot. should be fun to get off road running again. better than smashing out the miles in a road relay and letting other team members down...

^I can really recommend the running in the Wendover area. That's my old haunt, done an awful lot of miles in those woods.

I quite like the look of this - in particular the Mara / half Mara / 10k staggered start format, meaning I can do the same event as the other half, withiut her having to suffer the longer distance.

I also like the look of these races - forum day out??
Thinking of doing my first crosscountry race (well, first since I was about 14 anyway) on saturday. It's in my local park so should be a pretty easy introduction to xc, if you ignore the fact that the park has a dirty great hill in the middle of it.

XC races are great. Enjoy hitting your highest ever heart rate in the first 30 seconds as you are sucked up in the moment and sprint from the start.
-
• #9547
Dirty great hills (and a steep slippy stream crossing) are essential in xc.

Well. I am definitely going.
Definitely do the cross country. it is ace. although i suspect it could well be quite dry this weekend. and you will almost definitely need some cross country spikes...
Went for a run this morning and noticed my heart rate was quite high. I wonder how I high I can get it? Turns out the answer is 202. I feel strangely proud.
