  • I need no encouragement at all to start a running event in a place called Beer

  • What a place to run. I'd join you if I could.
    That view over Beer Head...
You may as well tack on the Sidmouth to Beer portion ;)

  • The amount of tiny insects up here in the summer is insane. You need to build a sweat so they stick and cant bite.

Plenty of ticks around too. Although, while I've had to remove a dozen or so since I moved here, I've never had one from a run. Which is good because a few of my favourate areas are known for lyme disease.

    Lovely.

In other News I jogged to work. It was very Nice. A surprisingly different feeling than cycling. Feel far more awake now.

hehe, yeah, might be an idea to get another couple on it, easier for drop offs etc. ill prolly end up riding to Lyme, cadging a lift to Beer then running back.

I'd prefer to go swimming in Beer...

  • But Lyme in your Beer? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Following another osteo appointment last night, was enjoying today's run to work until some driver* decided to turn off the main road into the junction I was halfway across without deigning to indicate or look. Managed to dive out of the way, but took a heavy fall and, apart from minor cuts and bruises, my back went again. Grrr....

    *BMW, obvs.

  • car nodders. pffffffft

  • Apologies if re, etc.
Barefoot runners might wanna read this

  • Getting back into the running as my knees are getting better touches wood. Will probably go into Asics to get any pronation and the sort checked out next month and get new trainers.

    Link doesn't work.

Did a recce of next week's Royal Berkshire 10k route last night. Flat course into a headwind for half of it. Felt pretty easy but wasn't running too hard. 52 mins but reckon I could knock a couple off that on the day.

Either the route they have on the website is slightly wrong, or it's actually just short of 10k. Both Google maps and my mates GPS reckoned the route we did was short of 10k.

Negative split then with the tailwind on the 2nd half? Try not to go out too hard at the start overtaking all the optimistic people who start nearer the front.

  • Yeah the 2nd 5k was faster than the first 5. I'm assuming I won't start properly warm so will try to take the first 2k relatively easy and then settle into a good pace for 7k, before a big effort for the last k.

  • I made my hairdresser sad this morning by going for a run directly on leaving the salon. Ran into a headwind for half an hour and gave myself quite an impressive restyle.

    Sorry, this one hopefully does

  • I was originally going to head up to Highgate to spectate but am now racing in the first race at 6pm. so if anyone is around the area of Parliament Hill area tomorrow evening you can cheer me on at 6pm and then have some beers and a barbecue while you wait for the seriously fast guys later on.

First ever 10,000m so we'll see how I cope with 25 laps of the track.

  • On of my ex-colleagues is racing at Highgate this evening - he's trying to break 30 minutes.

    o_O

  • sure it isn't tomorrow?

  • Or whenever it is...

  • ridiculously fast anyway.

  • Yep.

His cycling is almost as quick too :(

  • Good luck juanito.

I really need to find a local track to run on. Motivation dropped heavily after running the race I spent the last 4 months targeting and I think I need a new novelty to get me back.

  • I might run over and watch. Have nothing else to do tomorrow evening.

Turns out there is a guy who works in our business who, as well as being an elite level referee, has done a sub 4 minute 1500m. I was in training with him today, and I was in awe. /csb

  • How did you go Juanito? I guess conditions weren't ideal.

I caught the A race, which was an interesting spectacle. Andy Vernon looks stacked for an elite distance runner.

  • First run in two months yesterday since fucking up my foot ligaments and popping my cuboid out of position. A grand total of 1 mile. My foot has not fallen off, so that means I can run 2 miles tomorrow. Hurry up and heal you bastard!
