Good one. I have the possibility ofrunning through a big park, but my usual run is 1/3 street and 2/3 dunes/boulevard. I didn't really notice before but it seems I passively avoid parcs.

I think it depends on the park. Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens/Richmond Park = good. Crap little parks full of discarded plastic bags and dog poo = bad. Erm, not casting any aspersions on where you live, of course Bruce...

Fells> forests> fields> parks> streets> business parks / industrial estates = hell ;)
My runs at the moment are either along the river between Putney and Chiswick bridges at lunchtime, along the canal and marshes / Lea Valley or in Epping Forest at weekends. All good.
Brings me to another question. Where within an hour of London can you find hills to train on?

Ruskin Park is nice enough to hang out in. I just find that running and parks, when combined, spoil two things I like.

I just went to buy another pair of Nike Structure+ 16s as I'll need another pair before the marathon, but they're replaced already and nowhere convenient has my size left. Anyone know if the 17s are similar?

Used to run 2-3 miles to a park then do a few mile laps before running home, found it a useful session amongst others.

Even more ace. That would be brilliant. I'm around this weekend if you are?

Richmond Park and Epping Forest both have decent hills.
I live in Istanbul, it's impossible to run anywhere on the European side without doing hill reps.

Envious. Awesome place to run. Love that city.
Mind you, I love the food there even more. I'd need to be running every day.

Parks are good for interval training: eg last night's 31 x 1 min. I also enjoy join up all the parks you can runs, Burgess-Peckham-Dulwich-Brockwell-Clapham-Battersea being my PB.

• #7415
why are you missing out the best park of them all?
Brockwell has some tasty hill repeats.

The food is great but the running is hard. The parks are tiny, there are too many hills, too many cars/people, stray dogs chase you and it's hot.
I miss Victoria Park and the canal up to Chingford. I think the outer loop of Richmond Park is really great too.

This is all getting a bit too nerdy.
Too nerdy?
No such thing. -

I like running up and down hills. I find repeatedly running up and down the same hill dismal. I regularly run past Brockwell park and always reflect that I would not swap places with any of the people running around in it. I did the parkrun there, once, just for the experience (the fact that I ran it barefoot on a sub-zero December day added a certain flavour to the experience, to be fair) but wouldn't make a habit of it.

^am doing a 10k there with Tibbs and Dammit on Sunday.
because of which my long run I am meant to do on sunday replaces my tempo run today and judging by the current state of the weather after popping out for a coffee just now it's going to be a long, cold, wet 10 miles home this eve.
at least my flyknits aren't basically just a big sponge that will soak up every ounce of moisture they come into contact with, oh wait they are :(

My lakeside 10km turned into a rushed roadside 6km last night. Oh the joys of parenting.
This is theres a 1.5km Strava segment outside my house. Its a fecking dull one. But its right outside. So I must own it. Done it a few times at decent pace, on a out'n'back 7km run. Still only second though.
.....turns out I've been running it, at pace, in the wrong direction, then setting a time on the return when I'm recovering. Fool.
Friday night I will correct this.

Yeah enjoy that run this evening HB... I ran to work this morning, it's cold and got progressively wetter and my garmin ran out of batteries halfway so I don't even have any stats to cheer myself up with. When I got to work the shower wasn't working properly so I had one of those freezing/boiling/freezing/boiling showers where you come out of it feeling worse than when you got in. Also I've got Phil Collins songs stuck in my head at the moment and it seemed like there was nothing I could do to get the goddamn ear worm out, why do you torment me like this Phil?
-
• #7422
Smallfurry that is hilarious about the strava segment. can't you create one going the other way? might already have the top spot in that direction.
-
• #7423
Its a lame segment though. Only care because its on my road, and the time isnt really fast.
Must of attecked it on 3 or 4 runs now. Allways in the wrong direction.
Pretty sure I've done this on a 30km bike segment. Its a loop. So its kinda hard to tell the direction if you dont check. Although its seems to have disappeared.
Rode it with a mate that seems to be able to maintain threshold better than me. Reckon he lead out 80% of the time. Then I sprinted away from him over the last 500m to nick the segment. After all that showing my true colours as a complete cnut. No KOM. Maybe I should recreate that one. I'm a bit crap with this strava thing.

What time? Might come down and cheer you on. Would join but will still have the clingfilm on some fresh ink and with no desire to get sweat all down my back.
