Yeah I agree with Ed.
Have been feeling like shite all week, not getting up in time for a morning run and then back home too knackered to be bothered so last night I forced myself out the door at about 8, for as quick a 13k as I could go. It wasn't bad speed, not the best I've ever been.
Feel great today.

Any club types going to Reigate relays today?

One second place and one cr on the course I did this morning, quite enjoying this strava malarkey, apart for the fact it takes a run where I've climbed 500m according to my garmin(s) and called it 300m...
Glutes are now a bit sore, just awaiting a bacon sandwich now!

Not sold either way on the sticks either, the route I did today has a lot of steps cut into the cliffs, which is difficult to get into a rhythm whatever you do, but the helped on the slippery downhill bits and on the hills which don't have steps in so the jury remains out...

Managed a fairly solid 5k in under 28mins today which is amazing considering how much shite i was coughing up just before i left. Thankfully my cough didnt really happen on the run and the mucus was kept to a bare minimum.
Back to my training plan methinks.

went out with the intention of doing 4-5 miles this afternoon, kept going until I did 6.2 (58mins) then rounded it up to 7.
quite pleased with myself, was worried i was going to struggle upping the mileage for the 10k at the end of the month, no I know I have no problem with it.

Went for a 5k run after work, pushed a bit as I wanted to go to the fireworks afterward.
Average heart rate was just under 170 bpm for the five and a half km.
Running up and over Honour Oak saw my heart rate climb to over 180 and a feeling as-if there was a belt around my chest, restricting my ability to inflate my lungs came over me.
I ran through it, and it faded as I started running down the far side of the hill.
I believe that I'd run past my ability to exercise aerobically - is this what the belt was, simply being unable to take in enough oxygen, or was it something else?

More likely- it(wa)s cold.

It wasn't that cold, but I refuse to believe that I have angina!

Did my second barefoot run Monday. Made 6km. Much smoother. My calfs hate me with a passion. But my knees like me again. As I fear my kness more than my calfs. I think this is good.

Maybe I'm being thick. But did you run a bit faster, while breathing at your normal rate. Building up a slight oxygen deposite. Which then smashed you when your HR maxed out?

• #6392
That's what I think- just went beyond my ability to take in enough oxygen for the activity level.
Just wondered really as I've never done that on the bike.
-
• #6393
Do you even bike?
-
• #6394
In light of recent events I am wondering.
I certainly don't seem to be doing it properly.

I can't talk, haven't been on the bike since July...

I've never experienced the "belt round ribs" thing on a bike though- even sprinting up a long hill. It's always my legs that fatigue before my cv system packs in.

Try part time smoking, while training every night. Your lungs will soon become the weak link. I thought the reason it felt like a belt. Was its the line around you diaphram that youre feeling.

Bad description- felt like I could not breathe in deeply enough i.e. as if there was something wrapped around my chest.
