I’ve been on holiday on some peaky little islands. Normally I only run alongside the Thames! I managed 512m yesterday, including an epic downhill that was so nice to run and some rolling stuff with an amazing view.

you’ll be fine especially if you get on with similar Saucony trainers

Should add it’s all been paved but really remote.

Sounds lush tbh. I think paved is ideal unless you have the right selection of shoes for the terrain. Hard vs soft trails need totally different shoes, same for rocky or muddy offroad etc. Nice routes in nice surroundings is the best!

It has been a really nice surprise. I’ve always run in cities I’ve visited but this has been really remote. I’ve been devoured by mosquitos though.

Good luck to anyone running London today.

They should be fine straight away. Just give your feet a little roll/rub/massage afterwards if they ache a little after your runs. I've had loads of carbon plated shoes and the endorphin pros are still my favorites

Thanks. I’m going to pull the trigger as soon as I find any in my size which are not eyewateringly expensive.
I’ve got a few PBs in my targets for this summer so I guess now’s the time to use the carbon cheat-code.

With all the new colours and versions they do come up on sale often. What size? I'll keep a look out. Good luck with the PB's shoes definitely do help

Cheers, tickle in the throat today, and general fatigue. Will try and not work myself into the ground this week and I may get away with it!
Pictured: me, pretending to enjoy myself.

Was at Canary Wharf watching the 4hr pacers passing through, marathon runners all with smiles still, crowd and sound system creating a great buzz. It’s 15 years since I ran my last marathon distance.. I vowed I wouldn’t again, but just seeing everyone gives you that ‘what if.. and never say never again’ feeling..
Best wishes to everyone running today

Are there any nice hip independent running stores in london ?
-
• #29115
Well… that hurt… 3:28:21 so bang on plan… I don’t recommend not running over 2hours training for a marathon!

Well done!

Great work Ed. Identical pace to the 16k I squeezed out in prep for the Hackney Half in four weeks. About 2.5 times the distance which very much puts it into perspective.

I wouldn’t say nice or hip and I haven’t been there in a while. but I always bought from the Camden branch, when I was running regularly. It is important to get good advice though and a shoe that fits your running gait etc.

Congratulations Ed!!
Great time too.
In four attempts,
I never cracked 4hrs.Plenty of runners with medals/ bags travelling on the DLR and my endz late yesterday. Mostly out of town folk in good spirits and probably heading back their hotel stays.

Legend. Good work! Definitely familiar with suffering on the day due to lack of training. Well done for pulling it off!

I was training towards the Hackney Half, my first race / half marathon, until a few weeks ago when they sent the message below announcing a “sustainable low-cost airline” as their main sponsor. 🤯 I’ll run a half on my own. Why aren’t they getting more backlash against this? (sry not directly running related.)

The Sale Sizzlers are sponsored by Manchester "Airport City" these days. I race them through gritted teeth as so conveniently close & a good course.

Made it round London in 3:27 yesterday. Was aiming for sub-3:30 so very pleased! First 10km was a bit of a drag in the rain but perked up after that!
Where abouts are you based? 2km is legit, especially if it’s somewhere flat.
Some fairly necky descents today. Coming off Dale Head and Cat Bells in particular. Really steep tussocked grass, and some awkward rocky sections off Cat Bells. Despite feeling much slower than my previous self, it seems I can still claw back a decent amount of places on the descents. And my god was I grateful that I wore my grippier shoes.
