Went out early doors today and did a nice round 20 miles. Didn’t take any water or fuel but felt ok.
The main takeaway was that doing it in AlphaFlys was a clear sign that my old trainers with 1,000km on them are definitely dead, as my legs feel totally fresh (blistered arches notwithstanding), whereas 10k in my old pegs makes everything hurt. Also meant I had a lower HR than usual for the pace which was nice.
Ordered a pair of Novablast 2s for daily plods almost immediately after the run.
High cushion from now on. -

St Albans Half today. Hilly and hot, very hot.

I've got a trail (gravel) half on Sunday. And I have suddenly come down with suspected plantar fasciitis. Any sage advice as to how best to spend the week pre race to rehab/kit to alleviate the pain and prevent lasting damage?

When I had a case of it I taped the base of my foot with the rigid physio tape so it wouldn't flex.
If you mean how can you run with it, I certainly couldn't have run with the case I had.

I can barely walk, but I'm hoping it'll go as fast as it arrived...? I'll try to get a physio appt ASAP.

Physio defo. Try stair dip/raises in the meantime maybe?
Foot close-up warning.

Top 3 beat the horse apparently, reassuring that 1 was a vet (age, not horse dr) too.

Yeah thanks, improving almost no pain but I've used it as excuse to lounge and eat no running this week gone.
17 finished TPU, a collaborative approach it seems until the race on Snowdon.

Hoping it eases up over the next week or so.
If it's not cleared up by Sunday then it's kill or cure time!

So long as I don't lift owt heavy or fall over again I reckon it'll be ok.
MWIS reckons Thunder on Saturday in the Peak District. Thankfully early forecasts are often unreliable.

Ta. This and ice....and hope.
-
• #27616
Yeah taper week too so take it steady and you'll be good to go!
Thunder on Saturday is preferable to thunder on Sunday! I have decided we are going to have a week of great weather and therefore I'm not thinking about how grim it could get 😁

Mine arrived very fast and took 6 weeks to clear up but your mileage may vary. Taping the base of the foot is pretty good for getting on with stuff but it won't last running.

Let us know how you get on, I had it a few years ago and the stair exercises made a huge difference.

It was a balmy 4deg with horizontal rain at one point last summer apparently. Not even snow to worry about.

Plantar fasciitis stretches: 6 exercises for heel pain relief -
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324353I found the rolling stretch to be very beneficial with lots of ice and also elevating my foot.

Love to give this race a go one year.

Tonnes of stretching elevation and ice yesterday seems to have eased it a bit to the point I can walk barefoot with minimal pain (feels like I'm standing on lego). Will keep at it all week and I'm going to switch to a more cushioned shoe as I think that will help even if it is different to the shoe I train in...thoughts?

Thank you. I've also been using a frozen bottle of water too for rolling. Plus some acupressure relief things. Much improved after 1 day, so hoping it'll be bearable come race day. Anyone else doing the Dark Peak Trail on Sunday?

When I’ve had PF in the past it usually eases off after a while once running as everything warms up.

Don't know what all the fuss is about!
In case you haven't seen, the GPX files are available now!
This sounds unpleasant - hope it’s improving for ya.
Also enjoyed dot-watching the 3 Peaks.
