Enjoyed the cub (9 mile version of the grizzly a 20 mile muddy shingly Devon coastal race) much more than I thought, despite missing the beer stall at Beer.
Where's good to look for upcoming trail races? Definitely prefer the more local, less commercial offerings.

There're a few sites but I find Fetcheveryone.com has a very thorough race calendar / finder.

despite missing the beer stall at Beer
The climbs from Branscombe to Beer & back are brutal, I've never had Beer in Beer yet though #designateddriver
Edit: I always get an ice cream in Branscombe to make up for it.

If that variation is slowpacking then maybe it fits

Incorrect choice- Ice Cream in Beer + scoop of clotted cream on top.
Branscombe for the pub, unless it has closed.
I love that run.

50km on the north downs at the weekend - feeling it today. But was super nice to get out on a long run alone, and push the distance a bit.

It is a cafe now, no booze iirc.
Ice Cream in Beer + scoop of clotted cream on top
I'm down for this, 100% sure I'd vomit on the hill afterwards.

You have to go up into the village itself, but it is closed for refurb currently.
Thatch umbrellas.
My wife ate one of the c+icecreams, and did exactly that on the walk back. -

Ah right, we always park at the beach not been into the village, I ran past the NT watermill once though - looks good to visit

In other news, won a prize* as part of "2nd place Senior C team" in the local xc league. Writing my speech for awards night now.
'*The league is sponsored by Colgate, it'll be a toothbrush & tube of toothpaste.

My eldest won a merit medal today, something I have never achieved. Nearly got tearful, managed to hold it together

Do people size up half a size in the alphaflys?
-
• #27421
What size are you?
-
• #27422
UK 10.5 true to size
-
• #27423
Ah ok - was gonna say I have a size 12 going after 60kms use.
I found them too narrow so that my instep hurt after use. I’ve run 2k+ in vaporflys though.

Ah - got status anxiety about my foot size now 🤣
Did you size up half a size? Might be too narrow for me anyway as I have reasonably wide feet.

Nike have a return policy that includes shoes that you’ve run in so you could always get both sizes and return the ones that don’t fit as well
Perhaps a variation of Fastpacking?
