I'd take any of these to be honest. I think my fastest recent 5k was 19.17 in january, and I ran a 1:28 half late last year.
See if you can spot what might be limiting my progress.
My running club are doing a virtual team challenge, 4 different paced runners, everyone goes as far as possible for 10 mins the first week, 20 the second, then 30, then 40.
I went out with my daughter, on her bike, this morning, and managed 1.63 miles. I didn't particularly enjoy it, but I did enjoy her cheerleading. Personal favourite: "I'm having to work hard to keep up with you" (she wasn't, but the sentiment was nice)

Sounds like a good lockdown challenge. Excellent club spirit.

Clearly not enough red stripe.

Red Stripe gives you Wings, right?

It looks like you've had enough base training. You need to do some interval training.
Bang some shots.

Each to their own, and I don’t deny that running to MAF heart rate is incredibly frustrating and at times embarrassing when someone storms past you running, and I’ve failed many times, but it does seem to work if you stick at it. The reality is that you can run faster (I ran 25k in November chatting with a mate at 4:32 avg but got a bollocking from coach, because while it’s possible it’s not going to contribute to building aerobic fitness.
To add to the embarrassment of running slowly and being overtaken you also have to be prepared to positive split every long run and occasionally walk up hills!

Indeed. If/when I get my fitness up properly I'll hopefully try and stick to something similar to MAF. I know I was guilty of doing to much "just running" the last few years.
I get the concept and that it might be the most efficient way of building up in the early stages but I don't agree it's the only way. My planned way should get me there, it will just take me longer but it will be less frustrating (and I'll be less prone to giving up). There's at least 20kg to lose first, and that's going to take most of a year.

its definitely not the only way, and I realise I'm getting a bit evangelic about it!
just btb, but both scientifically and anecdotally it does work well with a low carb diet!

HR training definitely worked well for me when I was a newbie. The whole reason I was building up my running fitness was in order to run a marathon as comfortably as possible after 9 months from scratch, so I found perhaps the biggest benefit was the reassurance of an objective measure of effort, in telling me that I wasn't going too fast, either from an intuitive point of view of being able to keep the pace going for increasingly longer long runs, or more specifically because I was avoiding burning too many calories in the form of carbs rather than fat, so avoiding "the wall" when the long run got really long.
TL;DR - HR training isn't the only way of doing things but it's a bloody good one if (a) you're trying to build an aerobic base and/or (b) you're relatively new to structured training and you're delving into the unknown w.r.t. run length/volume of training.

Is it the equivalent of "winter miles = summer smiles"?

I need/want some new running tights. With a back pocket for my phone.
The under armour smart pocket things, are they for poncing or running? -

Thought they were the uniform for QAnon?

Really?
OR IS THAT WHAT "THE LIBTARDSS" WANT YOU TO BELEIB? -

Did a half marathon in the pissing rain last night. Put a few dates in my pocket as a snack - they’re perfect for long runs!

im yet to find a pair of tights i love as much as some old ass nike ones i have, ive tried asics, DHB and CEP as options, and all have some benefits (reflectiveness, pockets and tapered seams respectively).
the reality is that huge modern phones bouncing about in your pocket are going to bounce whatever...
my trick is using my work iphone SE (old version)

What’s peoples jam on Strava premium? Worth it?
Feel like I get enough data from the Polar app after a run and Strava is more for keeping tabs on best efforts and obviously the social aspect.

I had been wondering about upgrading but since they took away the leaderboards and the ability to compare yourself to your friends I've found that I really don't miss them at all!
I get enough data from Gamin Connect so the only thing I miss is the mapping function (for riding rather than running) which I found really easy to whip up a route on if I needed one. -
• #24825
I do have premium atm but not sure if I'd renew. I think the mapping is the only thing that I'd miss.
