Can anyone recommend a website where I can input the start and choose the route and the finish, so I can find out how far I’ve ran

Strava is great for this if you want to retrace steps/plan future routes. pretty sure its a premium feature mind...

I like using ridewithgps, which is obviously designed for cycle route mapping, but it has various map overlays, and the OS Outdoor map is really handy for highlighting footpaths, particularly named routes like the Green Chain Walk, Capital Ring, etc.

for working out your distance from a route you know - I quite like MapOMeter - it has a useful "click to roads" feature meaning it's quick and easy to use...

Google maps can too, just do a walking route and drag the points around

That is cool! It’s a really interesting book. I loved the checklist bit. I read it whilst ill and haven’t fully recovered - I’m excited to get running again and try it.

I’ve tried that but on my phone it’s not having it

I use this https://www.gmap-pedometer.com/m/
Probably better out there but it does the job

Finally back to pace after mysterious overuse injury that not only meant no running in November, but proper limping and pain just laying down at night for a month. Really weird.
It’s left a nice hard lump in the base/left side of my shin, too. Just above the ankle.
Did a 44 min 10k and felt great with nice consistent splits. The cold was a good incentive to push hard to stay warm. Cycling gloves ftw.
Also much prefer listening to podcasts than music. Helps getting lost in someone else’s conversation, especially if it’s about AI and aliens.

I used to come up with motivational playlists for running but now I don’t take anything just listen to my breathing and seem to get lost in that.

Haha- actually in Jan/Feb combined I ran about 50km as I broke my foot! Maybe you don't want to channel your inner hats after all!
Good luck getting that final 8km done!

First race of 2021 (20km trail race on 10 January) has just been cancelled. I guess I'll never get to wear my trail shoes....
Speaking of shoes, I recently bought a pair of Li-Ning superlight and have been really impressed. It's a bit too cold to wear them at the moment (they're very thin) but they're extremely comfortable and seem to be much better made than I thought they would be, especially for the price. Not sure if you can get them in the UK but I'd recommend them.

Can anyone recommend an alternative to Asics GT 2000?
I can’t but I’ve literally just pulled the trigger on a pair of GT 2000 in the sales and I’d like to know why the switch please?!
I’ve had a rubbish year for injury and I think it’s in part due to sticking with other less supportive trainers attempting to get ‘my money’s worth’ so I’m heading back to the first shoe I bought when I started three years ago.

Podcasts recommendations concerning AI and aliens please!

Has anyone read the lost art of running?
Got given two copies for Xmas, haven't read it yet but I know a couple of people who liked it, and have a mate who has trained with the author and really rates his techniques.

I guess I'll never get to wear my trail shoes....
I ordered myself some new trail shoes the other day but stupidly didn't change the delivery address so now they are at my office 😭

I did that but with my groceries... Hope you can go and pick them up soon!

I can't believe I ever complained about being too hot when running - it's -12 outside right now (and not that much warmer inside as we don't have heating) and I was cold even wearing two pairs of merino socks, tights, fleece, jacket, russian fur hat, two pairs of gloves... Yesterday was slightly warmer but snow and sleet. This cold spell can do one, I want to wear shorts again!

My funky salomons did alright today in the woods of Dulwich (dahling). Lots of mud, lots of grip. I'll have to look at the upper again, the bit were it joins the sole seems to have a small hole. Maybe I have funky feet.
Was recommended it by a clubmate who rates it as the best running book she's read. I doubt it'll get me anywhere close to her 16min 5k but I did think it interesting, and I've tried to make a habit of going through some of the checklist type items when running to try and keep my form.
I work with the blind guy he talks about who ended up running with earphones in to help him
hear/feel his footfall more easily - ran the London Triathlon with him last year
