I’m going to treat myself to some of these but I want to know a bit more about the fit

Easing my way back into it after having to take off the whole of November from mysterious leg/ankle agony. Still have a lump above my ankle bone on the outside and some swelling but it doesn’t hurt to walk anymore. Never got medical advice on it, just rest but seems to be an overuse injury from doing two many long runs too close together.
5k yesterday in the rain felt like hard work and has set me back from attempting 50k quite abruptly.

I'm wobbling over these vs a pair of solomons for £60
-
• #24030
The salomons look the shit, and you expect them to be well put together.
But there going to be covered in mud and £25 on dirty trainers is better than £60

It's more about the shape of the foot bed. Those 25 quid jobs look flat and I may have problems with that. Also. AESTHETICS. If I'm poncing around in SE London woods/muddy bits I have to look like I want to be doing this.

Agreed. The more miles don’t look great.
My feet are fucking annoying to buy trainers. They’re really narrow and shallow, but I also have high-ish arch

I’m tempted by bare foot for trail. But thought they were a bit of a fad 🤷🏼♂️
-
• #24034
for bare trails?
ah, I'm getting my threads mixed -

I tried those Salomon's on in decathlon, they felt pretty good.

How long after acclimatising to a distance do you wait before increasing the distance and by how much?
-
• #24037
10% increase per week max.
-
• #24038
What distance are you at, and what intensity are you running it at? Add 15 mins each week to the longer slow n steady run is a reasonable step in my experience, forget the distance, quality time on feet counts for more.

I rode with a client on a charity ride once, and he wore white bibs. Noone needs to see that.
Stick with black is my tuppence worth

I’m running 4 miles 3 times a week. Steady pace not slow and not fast.
-
• #24041
I'd go 454 then 455 then 555 over about a month? I don't know. Seems feasible

Ran my first half yesterday, no major complaints except that the tips of my toes were pretty sore immediately after, nothing that bothered me during the run. Quick google says that this could be that shoes are too big or shoes are too small. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Fully off bikes whilst its this cold, trying not to get carried away and running too much.

has anyone worn out Hoka Carbon X SPE yet, mine are about 400km which is usually when i start to think about replacing shoes (or in truth because i've run in Inov8 previously the time they have usually fallen apart) but the soles and uppers are holding out pretty well, whihc is reassuring when they cost double what i usually pay for running shoes, but wondering how long the foam holds up....
had entered Brighton marathon but that's been moved to the autumn, so have entered the marathon at Dorney Lake at Easter, i feel like i know Dorney better than most (according to strava I'm up to 196 anticlockwise laps!) and the boredom doesn't frighten me too much, as I know there is nothing that will surprise me there, but I am nervous that if its a windy day it will be a pain in the arse especially as they are doing their best to avoid groups so there will be nowhere to hide, target time is around 3:05 but looks like they have now decided that sub 3 go off at 9am so going to try to get in contact to get an early slot to miss as much wind as possible.

London, surely 2 degrees Celsius is considered cold anywhere?
luckily I'm always super hot when running at any tempo so it's working out as a good replacement for the time being.

Another 4 miles tonight. Was freezing for the first 10 minutes but was still the same sweaty mess when I got home.
I think I’m going to extend a bit on Wednesday.

I knew Manni pretty well through Run Dem, he's a great guy and very knowledgeable. +1 on the recommendation from me.

Ah nice - honestly never met the guy irl, I’m always just impressed by the content he posts and what others I know have to say. So far everyone seems to have positive things to say

I'm liking the Saucony Endorphin Speed after a couple of faster sessions. Final big tempo run this evening before the half marathon at the Olympic Park on Sunday week, 10 miles w/ 8 miles @ 5:40/m gently undulating. Happy with that. I'm not sure the shoes are any faster than my non-plated Hoka Rincon (which feel pretty fast, to be fair), but my feet and calves feel decidedly comfortable and not beaten up after a long, fast effort. Definite marathon-shoe potential!

The thought had honestly never crossed my mind hence my surprise but im sure im in a minority!
Running tights that ain’t plain black? Do only women runners get anything with colour. Do more goths run that I first thought. Shall I just buy women’s running tights in all the patterns I want and not give a fuck?
