I'd targeted 130m for 24hrs when I was meant to be doing Ultra Commonwealths this year, before injury. Will have another crack at it this year, injury gods willing.
Congrats rhb.

First run of the week.
5 miles tempo in 31min55sec average speed 6min23sec miles 169bpm avg hr
Compared to the same run last week time 34.38 speed 6.56 avg hr 170bpm
If I keep going at this rate I might consider racing 10ks!

Anyone done the classic quarter?
I've got a small itch which has been getting worse recently to try an ultra, and it looks like a good start for me both in terms of timing, distance and location

3 weeks of almost no training and it turns out I'm going faster!!

Maybe you'd been overdoing it and a nice bit of recovery time has left you refreshed. Good news, in any case.

where's the graph to prove this claim though?

As in this?? The video isn't available any more but I saw it when it was -Looked like fun!
Sorry the graph is rubbish - way to tired to think much more about it now.I don't think I was overdoing it before, however I was training hard and so there was probably a certain amount of tiredness in the legs that isn't there now. Even so I'm going to bed - I flew in from Oz only 2 days ago and I only got 2 hours sleep last night because I had to drive my GF to the airport super early this morning.

Garmin from yesterday, managed to draw xmas morning route ono my garmin, now to see if it actually works!
Also, i should have all the pieces to make the lights within my jacket work on friday (v excited) - it's a prototype jacket with lights all over but it came without the battery pack, so i have bought an (over the top) battery and finally found the relevant connector and hopefully it'll work!

Hit or exceeded target times for training runs this week so far so only have the long run to go, long Xmas morning run for me! Charging through weight loss targets too, hopefully both activities and some better mental preparation will get allow me to hit my target.

11 miles this morning fully loaded with water, energy and first aid kit so a 4kg pack, managed to average marathon race pace so quite pleased!
A nice little selection of running kit as well for Xmas although some of it is too big for me now, slight problem with loosing 2 stone between writing an Xmas list and Christmas day!
Will require a quick trip into town in the new year to change it, but I'm looking forward to using some of it a lot!

Good work Sains Ed, I'd say you're well on track for a PB. I've got my long run tomorrow, can't wait!

back home in sweden over xmas and keeping myself on the right side of gluttony with plenty but shorter runs, with hills thrown in where possible. Nice to do 5k every other day rather than 8-10 once a week.
Running in the country side rocks, don't miss london fields / vic park at all.

Coming to Sweden tomorrow to see the GF, super excited!! Not sure how much running I'll get done but apparently there are some nice routes around Malmö.

not that clued up on Malmö but countryside is never far away in sweden. While there I'd make sure to pay Ribban a visit, it's a sauna at the end of a long jetty. nothing beats sitting in a sauna watching the sea followed by a swim

I agree, knocking out a reasonably quick 5-7k 4-5 times a week, I find more practical over the xmas gluton period. Still accumulated some fairly decent holiday weight/paunch.
Saying that I had plans to go for a nice long run today, but am going to play golf instead.

Top athlete, his goal for next year is 124 miles / 200 km in the 24hr race, I reckon he'll do it.
In other news, I'm now a Run England / England Athletics "Leader in Running Fitness". w00t
