How would one find running races to enter?
-
• #19503
https://www.fetcheveryone.com/race.php
is fairly comprehensive listing searchable by postcode & month etc. There are others too I'm sure.

Anyone (in London) got a half decent running backpack they’re not using? I’m heading to the Lakes on Thursday for a few days of walking/Kendal Mountain Festival, and plan to get a long run in on Saturday morn but my run-to-work backpack is extremely uncomfortable...
I’d rather by second hand, but failing that, any recommendations for a fairly priced one that could be bought at somewhere like Cotswolds, Runner’s Need/central London? Thanks

45 min run at lunch, was such a bright sunny warm day - head has cleared.
didnt envy the lorry close-pass a cyclist as i was running back..... somedays running feels so much more relaxing than cycling........... -

Runner’s Need
Unless you carry kitchen sink this isn't bad. They price match too if you can find cheaper elsewhere...

Decathlon do one for under £30. Something like 12l capacity and a 1l water bladder. Perfect for not carrying much stuff, not so good if you need loads with you.

You'll always fill whatever bag you take, and running with a bag isn't much fun - so I'd definitely recommend not going much bigger.
FWIW, I wear my inov8 race vest for my long runs where I take full waterproofs, hat, gloves, gels/snacks in the gel pockets and the 2 x 500ml water bottles in their pockets, maybe a sandwich and a spare layer, and phone etc, and that all fits in there. -

Flipbelt!
-
• #19517
I need to carry layers, water and bananas for a long run in the Lakes so a Flipbelt won’t do unfortunately! Think I’ll get an OMM ultra - looks comfortable and not too spenny. Thanks

Anyone want some Hoka Clifton 2's for freebee? size 9.5
They've some wear maybe done 70 miles, but have plenty of life. They've never worked for me, so they'll go to the shoe recycling or charity shop, but maybe someone would like them just to try Hoka's max cushion, low drop type thing?

Yes please if they aren't a narrow shoe in the toe box? Otherwise my little toes just end up ripping through the side :(
-
• #19521
mmm - i dont find them narrow, but my feet are quite narrow anyway. Solereview reckons the toe box is tight but seems more focused on height than width: https://www.solereview.com/hoka-one-one-clifton-2-review/
Let me know what you think
Pick up from either South Hampstead/ Swiss Cottage or around Cannon St if that makes a difference!

2nd dibs if still available.
I work by Cannon St so if Arducius doesn't have them -
• #19523
Ah I'm not London based so maybe pass them to duncs. Happy to cover postage but understand if you don't want the hassle.
-

No worries. Hopefully they bring duncs many happy miles!
In other news my name got pulled out of the hat for our club marathon place last night. Looks like I will be running London after all!
I've got the stamina to go the distance, but I'd like to set a good time (2016 saw me sneak just under four hours) and finish without feeling completely wrecked. A winter of tempo and long runs or should I throw something else into the mix? Long runs are generally off road in rolling countryside. Should I look to do faster stuff on tarmac?
And yes Hatbeard, I'm going to buy that Hansons book!
Knees should only be a hinge joint, but they can be loaded with a twisting force and the ligaments resist this... To a point
Make sure your feet point inline with your thighs when squatting.
