  • Not in this year, double gutted as thought I'd get a good for age place then they moved the time back to <=3. Did get a wind/rain jacket with the 'commiserations' mag though, so silver linings etc.

Now to consider whether I train for running or bike racing over the winter

  • Is there a quick way to find out if the ballot has been successful for London or is it a question of waiting?

  • What does it say for your entry when you check here: https://app.realbuzzregistrations.com/login/

  • I also got the "commiserations" mag :( 3 failures in a row now.

Fingers crossed for the club ballot!

  • I would like to run the Stockholm Marathon next year - you just pay and run.

Anyone else interested? It's a nice course, even though you will hate the bridge on the second circuit.

  • Thanks.

    Unsuccessful!

  • I ran over that bridge in driving rain about 2 weeks ago. I was only on a 10km run and i hated it.

  • In a moment of madness, I have signed up for Manchester Marathon 2019

  • I ran over that bridge in driving rain about 2 weeks ago. I was only on a 10km run and i hated it.

When I ran over it twice it was 30 degrees+ and (what seemed like) most of Stockholm were shouting at me. Also, someone handed me a huge Gherkin at 21Km.

  • nice one. I know a lot of people who rate the MCR marathon.

  • 50km Tweed valley ultra coming up 18th November.
It was a plan of mine to enter it, but suffered an injury back in June. Recovered now and back up to interval training and a couple of 10 mile runs a week now.

Enough time to reach up to a 50km?

    Watch this space......

  • I imagine because it's completely flat - I'm gonna be fucked the first time I encounter a hill haha.

  • there's definitely some slight hills (or at least not-flat roads) around mcr, I remember running up and down them when I did a still waters alleycat run in 2014.

  • It's all relative. I always chuckle when Londoners refer to "Brixton Hill".

  • The MCR mara route goes out through & around Trafford which is mostly flat. The city centre "hills" are fun (especially Jutland Street) but won't feature unless the route is changed loads.

  • Think I'll sign up for Mcr if I get over my ankle niggle.

  • I meant more that there's non-flat places to run when training around mcr.

  • Ah ok makes sense. Thought @DenGlanzig lived the lumpier side of town anyway tho, no shortage of hills oop North.

  • What's your eta for being fit? I might be giving out Erdinger at finish again. Haven't ruled out a Spring Mara myself yet tho.

  • Haven’t run properly since end of Aug. Just did 2mi (slooow) pain-free. 🤞

Had already entered the Portsmouth Coastal Mara (23rd Dec), but will defer and probably go for Mcr if my foot gets better.

  • Love 0% Erdinger!

  • Recently did a 15 mile run that incorporated Jutland Street but they had us run down it! Seemed like such a waste.

  • Yeah Kearsley, but I do most of my running before or after work which is Trafford Park / Salford Quays #flat

  • Anyone else running with arthritis in their big toe joints? If so how are you managing it? Enjoyed my run yesterday but paying for it this morning
