  • Are you still running just about every day? Take 2 or 3 days off and then try again, I bet you'll see a big improvement

  • Yep:

  • The first Km is always slow though, as I'm running down a big hill then across a road - if I take the pace from the (moderately) flat bit it indicates a 22:30 on the flat:

  • But I had ~10bpm headroom on this, so could push harder - so you are likely absolutely right:

  • Struggling with a little bit of discomfort in my right knee, but I have the big 15 mile run this weekend.

After that I'm gonna try and reduce the amount I'm running for a week or two and recover.

  • Did the parkrun this morning, took it easy and did the advised stretches. Only a few minor twinges when I started in the shin are which vanished after about 1/2 mile. Aching now but time will tell if its general unfitness or shin pain.

  • I did a parkrun, came home, had a bath and now I'm eating all the sausages, eggs, bacon and toast

  • after two weeks off, spent largely being a lazy glutton, I really wasn't expecting a PB today! :D

  • Rest is Training. Well done.

  • was it your first one? after my first it took about a week to recover and going up and down stairs was actually hard, after 2nd a day or so, today's caused me next to no discomfort.

  • This weather is vile. Looks like the first wet Sunday long run of the autumn.

  • ^ hope it was character building?!

  • Longest ever run.

Feeling pretty proud, if a little* sore.

    *A lot.

  • Congrats!
I went for a wet 24km and got a half marathon PB too.

  • I stepped out of the door at 7.25 with a hangover, turned around and went back inside for a cup of coffee in bed.

I did have a little ride in the afternoon, and despite having just started my 2nd pint, I will go out later when my three kids are in bed.

Must check the Strava leader board to see how far to run

  • Strava leader board

I'd forgotten there was that. Flying highish as relatively heavy mileage for me at mo.

  • Anyone do any of the relays?

I'm going to find a way in next year...

  • Nice one. Found you on Strava so have tuned in.

  • First run in 7 weeks yesterday after going over on my ankle. Did 6 miles on rough trail, took it steady with my ankle strapped up, everything felt ok but definitely took caution on the uneven descents.
    Yipeee!! A massive relief tbh.

So now for the lols. I've put on half a stone in those 7 weeks off. My club has entered my into the British Fell Relays in a months time (I think they've mistaken me for a capable runner). I'm rather unfit. Oh, and it's my brother's wedding a week before the race (boozy).

Any ideas on how to maximise my performance in 4 weeks? Gonna cut out sugar and generally cut down on carbs/cals, try and get 4 good weeks of 20+ miles and get a few long runs in. Fortunately I'm on the first leg which is flagged and only 5 miles so I won't need loads of miles in the tank, just some pace hopefully!

  • Congrats!

I was threatened with biblical rain but it turns out sunny thankfully.

  • Well done! What's next?

  • Manchester Half Marathon in 3 weeks, but I'm not sure if I'll make it. My knee is killing me after today so might need to slow down a bit and recover, we'll see.
