Currently trying to decide if 7 weeks is enough to train for the london to brighton 100km I'm signed up for (purely walking)
It's a well supported event with aid stations every 12.5km and runs over 2 days so there's no cut-off times to chase, just need to get enough time on my feet between now and then.
when I trained for the 24hr thing last year I managed 75km on 11 weeks training but 4 of those weeks just before the event I had sprained both wrists and elbows going over my handlebars and did almost no exercise/movement for most of it.
am only working 3 days a week now so would be able to do 2 long walks a week up to marathon distance based on my training last year on my off days with one or two days of rest in between.
just need the weather to sort itself out so it doesn't suck being outside for 8 hours at a time.

Standing desk?

Lemme know if you happened to nab an extra Erdinger top! I love their 0%

not a bad shout actually, my clients use hot desking and i'm always in early to make sure I nab one of the normal height desks but there's another block at standing height with bar stools I could use instead. wouldn't have to rush in either. double win

Yep, the stuff I've read about ultra training says "time spent on feet" is nearly as good for your training as "time spent running", and they suggest standing desks. 8 hours "training" a day!

I actually had enough puff to carry on at the spitfire scramble 24hr but my feet were so sore I bailed as was going too slow to get any more laps in before the finish time so time on feet is key.
Currently making up a plan to go in my trainingpeaks calendar to give it some semblance of structure.

I am doing the opposite of HatBeard and planning to bail out of my planned 24hr in July. Haven't been able to run consistently in 6 weeks now, with what started as a chest infection and now is constant aching/tenderness where anything physical makes it worse. Off to the doctors I go.

Oh that sucks! Get well soon.

Unfortunately we don't get to keep the kit, just wear during the gig. I did have one of the visors between events but never used it so returned it.

Echoing others' congratulations. Close enough to be cigar-worthy.
Looking forward to running a few parkruns as the MK marathon approaches. Broke my volunteering cherry on Saturday, as did my son. Inter-generational barcode scanning. He went on to 'win' the junior parkrun on Sunday, as usual. I went out for a long run, gingerly, testing my foot now it's off ice. Symptoms had been Jones / avulsion fracture territory. I can still feel something's not right, but can walk properly now – walking was more troublesome than running during initial tests.
The 30k run was fine, including some MP stuff. Perhaps it was just a bad sprain. I'm going to run with it, both literally and idiomatically.

cracking result, obviously a little disappointing to miss such a big milestone, but taking the milestone aside to only go 3 minutes slower than your plan is pretty damn good, and having an idea at the end what else is needed is a positive outcome too!

Started running again last week as WFH has killed any cycling (and hence exercise) dead. Was a bit disheartened at first as it's pretty hilly round here in Upper Norwood/Crystal Palace so just over a mile was killing me. But yesterday I went out along Church Road, round the triangle and back. 2.4 miles without collapsing.
I'll see how this goes.

Wore Speedcross 4's a couple of days ago, got a blister which isn't the end of the world but I was much slower. They're pretty heavy, is it mad to suggest that would've made all the difference. I was 30s per km slower on a 10km.

Well done! Have you a local Parkrun near you? I only did my second one on Saturday, but I enjoyed it this time around. Hated my first one.

Out again for nearly 6k this week, decided I'll stick at this, I do like it. Gf came along with me this time and I'm absolutely blown away by how her fitness is coming on, hopefully we can make it a habit together.
Kinda wish there were more elevation changes around here though.
@Libraio congrats, that's a great time for a first go! -

Turns out the Strava Android app is total balls for running. Bought a Garmin Vivoactive 3 today, went on what I thought was a much longer run. Tracking shows a much smoother route but only up to 2.5 miles from 2.4 (4k from 3.9). All the hinting around for a GPS signal was way over egging the distance.
Feels almost like starting from scratch. At least now I have a more accurate baseline.

Slower vs what trainer? Like4likeroute? Road or trail? Conditions? Heavy week? Sh1t day?
So many variables it'd be hard to say off one run.

Kinda wish there were more elevation changes around here though.
Kenworthy woods by the elecy substation is all you'll get local. Shout if you want the tour of the 'lumpiest'* route to save exploring it all.
'* not promising much still!

I cannot run in Speedcross threes, way too heavy feeling and stiff, they actually hurt my feet, they make great hiking shoes though!

That's a good shout, I've had some fun on my bike in there, will try it on foot. Thanks! No need for the route, exploring works.

Vs Flyknit racer (so a lot lighter)
Like4like, trail, maybe a bit jetlagged but had been runninh good tempo in NYC.
I just wondered if anyone had, had the same thing

Hmmmm I wanted something better for running round Hampstead Heath & trails. But they were heavy and stiff. I’ll give them another whirl tomorrow.

Using runrepeat listings, your flyknit racers are 130g lighter than the speedcross. A very different trainer.
As @Sainsburys_Ed mentions they're good hikers too, I also wear mine for gardening too & also long stints on feet on a hard (painted concrete) surface at work on which road shoes quickly give me sore feet. I do run in them too still.
If you want a really light but grippy trail shoe it may be worth a look at the inov8 x-talon 212, as name suggests 212g. They'll wear out quicker on harder surfaces though if owt like my 190's (my xc shoe past 2 seasons, sadly discontinued).
