Get a SanDisk clip

As another option you can get Bluetooth headphones for your phone or a headphone MP3 player thingy like this one (note: I don't know if that's any good, just the first thing I found on Google. And for pacing I like to have a few playlists with different tempos so that I can go fast on a short run or slow on a long run, and I don't imagine that thing's any good for playlists).

Some apps will give you pacing info over headphones, so you could use your phone for both music and pacing.

Ok to be more precise. I’m using strava (which I don’t think tells me pacing) but also prefer the idea of reading pace on a screen not interrupting music. I have wireless Bluetooth headphones. I’d like a watch that can tell me my pace and do all the other Interesting things. Isn’t my only choice an Apple Watch? Or other...

Missed this. Thanks!
I’ll look at those this weekend

TomTom Runner 3 Cardio GPS Watch with Music is £200 on Wiggle.
TomTom have all but closed down their sports device business, so you're not going to get much after market support for it.

Sounds like you need an app to load music. Faff. Only 3gb storage...

Garmin will be the best music watch available, but unless you desperately want to leave the phone at home then I'd just use the phone to play music and a slightly cheaper Garmin for the running stats.
That said, I have the Forerunner 935, so I'm not really one to talk. It's awesome

After struggling and failing to break 20 minutes for a 5k last week, I've managed 9k in 35 minutes ish twice this week, admittedly I felt like spewing at the end of last nights session, but finally feeling like I can run again, still worry that Wokingham half is going to be struggle to PB at n a couple of weeks time, but the weight is heading in the right direction, and I love the course, so keeping fingers crossed!

And the straps are rubbish and disintegrate over time (customer support will replace for free but for how long?)

Strava will tell you your pace. On the 'record activity' page go to settings (top left corner) > audio cues > run > announcements.
I bought a Forerunner 35 so I didn't always have to run with headphones. Really like it though it doesn't have a music option so may not fit your requirements

Heel improving still no running though.
Decathlon have gt2000v5 for 65notes so have picked up a pair to rule out old trainers when I do start up again.
Gone up size from eur45 to eur46 although that might be down to manufacture variance as different colourway?

I've started to include some running specific strength training in my weekly routine. Genreally do the following a couple of times a week:
- Single leg squats
- Single leg romanian deadlifts (dumbells)
- Lunges (holding dumbells)
- Single leg glute bridge
- Side plank
- Back extension/dorsal raises/dying fish/whatever it's called
- Goblet squat (normal squat holding biger dumbell)
I find on longer runs my upper body (shoulders and back-of-sides [don't know name of muscles] start to tire so anything to target those areas? I'm thinking of adding shoulder and bench press...
Anything else I should consider throwing into the mix for general running strength as well as a bit of upper body?(I know the strength/weight training thread might be a better place for this question but this is primarily to aid my running)
I'm tapering this week (Thames Trot next Sunday) so good to spend spare energy planning my next training phase!
- Single leg squats

I don't know if I'm doing it right but on my gym sessions I do very similar combo of exercises as above, plus 15 mins on the rowing machine. Maybe the rowing would target some of the upper body areas you mention? I certainly get a bit of DOMS across the shoulders, back and sides when I've not done a row for a while. And I like the idea of a bit of bonus aerobic work-out, without pounding the pavements.

If I get sore shoulders it's because I'm clenching them up somehow subconsciously as I run. I swing my arms about like a madman and relax a bit and they feel a lot better. It's a good habit to periodically mentally check your form and tight shoulders is one of the things on my checklist

@PhilPub good shout on the rower, used to do a little on the machine but not in a good while ... Should have mentioned I do a bit of yoga too which helps with flexibility and a bit of strength.
@frankenbike yeah I definitely do this! On longer runs I try to do the mental check like you describe but often forget!

Weird one today - have been rehabbing and targeting a sub20 Parkrun, especially after an encouraging c.20.20 on NYD. Went out this am and managed 19.15 on no sleep and a few beers. Baffling, but hugely happy and guess sub-19 is my new target, as well as cranking up to proper distances.

Southern XC.
If you were there you know how miserable it was, and if you weren't I'm afraid there aren't enough words to describe it.

I can imagine.
did you go for studs or spikes?

So I did a warm up, and decided to wear my very worn Inov-8s because it was rock hard in the woods and outside the woods was solid. Fast forward 30 minutes of torrential rain and it was coated in thick mud and I had no grip anywhere. Just filthy everywhere.

I haven't run since January 2nd. Sickness and shit weather eradicating my motivation. Any tips to get myself back into it?

Go for a run tomorrow

This week’s 6music Electric Ladyland show has the original essential mix by Daft Punk. Bound to be a banging listen and top notch running music
You'll pay a lot to have those two things combined.
Only Garmin with music (Forerunner 645) is £££ (~£350).
TomTom Runner 3 Cardio GPS Watch with Music is £200 on Wiggle.
Not sure about others.
Cheapest would be bottom of the range GPS watch for pace, and mobile stuffed somewhere for music. I sold an old Forerunner 110 to a friend for £20 a few years ago - ebay has plenty second hand. That and a running belt or arm thing to stuff the phone in.
[ EDIT - Not a problem I have, I'm quite happy running without music. Occasionally I'll run with my mobile so I can listen to sports commentary - cricket or football. ]
