Did my 3 hour long run, it's all downhill from here.. Got a bit emotional at 2 hours and changed the route to avoid a third lap of Richmond Park, came back along the river instead. Glad it's done. Two more weeks then taper.
I see from Strava Flyby you overtook me near Syon House. I seem to recall someone saying "Hello" as they ran past around that point. I was 10 miles into my 17.5 mile chafe-fest. It's my last long long run (3 laps of RP) for me this Sunday.
3 and a bit weeks until Brighton. Less training than last year. 6kg heavier. Might pace myself a bit better though this time.

Ran into work this morning. Been tired all day. Was thinking of running home. Am thinking fuck that. (Is only 5 miles).

You might be ok once you get into it... fwiw I generally start 2nd run feeling ok but weary, then have a rough patch 20-30 mins in before it gets much easier.

Cut back my sessions this week as haven't factored in riding track more regular and felt v.tired after end of last week.
Route recce of the bit I didn't get to in November tomorrow evening all being well, Stoke on Trent -> Congleton, mostly canal.

5mi is quite a lot for your first double-run, especially if you're already tired. I'd probably walk the first mile or maybe walk/run the journey home.

Sounds like your going fasted cardio, which has its merits but also drawbacks.
If your doing a morning run commute with little or no simple carbs for breakfast to fuel it, give yourself an extra 10 minutes or so for an easy effort. Your still going to burn roughly the same energy (circa 500cals for 5 miles) but less of it will be from your glycogen stores so you shouldn't feel so wiped out later.

Might get the train from Herne Hill. Run to Sydenham.

Have a bit of a nightmare this weekend with an all day sports first aid course on Saturday and mums birthday in Kent on Sunday so doing my long run home from work, Harefield to Maidenhead and apparently I can't use the m40 so the shortest route is about 19 miles so hopefully I'll make it!

I made it, was feeling good till about 18 miles, I hadn't put enough water in the camelback and ran out quite early, I was planning on picking up the pace but my heart rate was already increasing quite a bit so decided to keep the pace steady to the end, feel ok again today so a bit of a recovery run and just trying to decide what to do tomorrow as I might be able to do a park run, although I should be doing 45 minutes threshold, so I capsule do the park run course before it starts and do a second effort as part of the actual run and turn the session into 2x20 just over threshold...

Stoke on Trent to Congleton (station to station) was a surprisingly nice route, the driving rain throughout made for a good kit test. I chose to skip waterproof trousers but for longer day in that would use them for sure.
Hadn't given much thought to train times for home, had missed one by a couple of mins so found the Congleton chippy, although wished I'd gone to the pub as chips in the unlit station shelter was bleak, again a good kit test for spare layers (ashmei merino, omm rotor smock, montane prism gloves) to keep the cold out until next train.
Chippy shuts relatively early (8.30pm) on Saturdays so is not likely to figure in my EfM plan unless I'm making very good progress. Future trip to check out the Kidsgrove fast food situation needed.

I've been thinking about doing this but worried about spam bots/nigerian businessmen....
has anyone done this?
-
• #15169
I never received lots of spam from signing up for the 30DC. A few emails for signing up to the paid for courses over the past few years (one of which I subscribed to) but the other free stuff is worth it alone.
If your really worried, use a different email address.

Took my first ever race win yesterday! Local 16 mile off roader, hilly, muddy and on trails I know. 1:48, ecstatic.

I signed up, never received anything at all

Great run. That's a solid road time for 16 miles.
I was marshalling the English Schools Cross Country. Saw some of the stars of the future in action.

1.37.55 posted today for a hilly half marathon. A P.B. and all falling together nicely for my first, perhaps last marathon in May.
However a dawning realisation of the task ahead hit me today, I'm going to struggle to maintain 7.30 mile pace for the duration of a Marathon.... -

Was shooting the shit with a random cyclist whilst out today, and he defined a good marathon time as 2:20, was speechless.
