I quite enjoyed the wind this evening in a perverse way. Our Tuesday night club sessions are mainly intervals on the track, but with a hill session thrown in every few weeks during Winter training. 5 laps of Hilly Fields ( = 4 hard hill reps on each lap with slow jog between/484 bus dodging.) Session is about 7 miles, 13.5 miles total for me, from home and back. Untimed, all by effort, so none of the usual cursing at the wind making track rep splits look shit.
2016 plans: a break from marathon racing, but hoping to smash as many PBs as possible in the 1,500m (not my distance!) - half marathon range. Lack of marathon training means being able to hit more intense sessions on the track. And I'm getting back into indoor rowing for core strength/general fitness.

Plans for 2016?
Same as this year before I had to re-plan due to my traitor knee: Primary goal is to cross the finish line at the London Marathon, under 3:30 would be nice and hopefully achievable but I'm not too worried about time for my first marathon.
After that ... ???

Unrelated, but I picked up some £5 running shorts from Primark and they are perfect! Good length, bit of stretch, decent rear pocket and a couple of little reflective details.

Remember how to run.
Run faster.
Run off road more. -

Spine Race in Jan- then I need to find a marathon that will take late entries? Aiming for below 3.30 hrs

I'd quite like to run London to Brighton in 2016. But I suspect it might require more training/effort than I can be bothered to put in.

Bit wet up here in the Lake District - I got home completely soaked and covered in cuts from having to climb a wall covered in barbed wire to escape one flooded bit.

Week 1 of marathon training plan complete! Skipped the 5 miles at pace yesterday to do a park run with a friend instead (muddy course, good time, and 23rd across the line), but this morning's 8 miles in the rain ticking off a steady pace felt easier than yesterdays 3!

Santa brought me a pass for some frivolous fell friendly shoes, racing upto 10k ish.
Toss up between X Talon 212, 190 or Speedcross 3, got the 190's, close in feel to xc spikes the others felt too bulky for my skinny feet.
First test Bowstones Poynton on NYE.

Ooh... And they come in fun colours.
How much difference do spikes make for xc vs trail shoes like my current x-talon 212s? Thinking of treating myself to a pair.

Honestly don't know as only raced xc in spikes apart from one dry race when unfit at start of this season in v.old Adidas trail response. Looking at the 190's (same tread as 212's) I'd be more confident planting my heel on the downhill 180 dog leg at Boggart Hole than in my spikes where any attempt to slow down to make the turn is asking for trouble... otherwise I'm not sure trail shoes offer much more for club xc racing at all, better for multi-terrain surely?

Good running on Lanzarote?
Brighton Marathon. First marathon. Aiming for 3:59:59.
Sub 22 parkrun would be nice.
Rest of the stuff involves getting wet and sitting on a bike first.
