Wow it's like it's 2010 again - isn't it all about super squishy shoes these days?
1:39 half marathon at the end of a half ironman today, bad bike meant I had a bit of a temper tantrum and had to give myself a bit of a talking to but lovely run around Rutland water and having aid stations every 3k is ace!

I'm very old fashioned.

Severn Bridge 1/2 done, great race and I felt pretty good but still haven't got the all out speed in the legs yet. Finished in 1:29:13 pretty happy as I finished strong and no injuries which was the main thing.

How did you like the hill halfway round? Also, the bridge is a bit more of a rise than you'd think right?
-
• #11584
Hill saved me to be honest :D I need a good hill to break a race up I'm terrible in flat races, Snowdon is my marathon pb. The bridge did surprise me both ways but it feels like a long old drag to the finish.

Haha fair enough. I struggled coming back over the bridge last time, was being passed left and right. It's a good race, will do again one year.

Slowly getting back into running after only doing it sporadically over the last year. Want to be comfortably running half marathons by spring again. 10k last week and a slow, ungainly 7k in the rain just now. Forgot how little grip my skoras have on wet surfaces...
Will take my running kit to Yosemite next week and hopefully get a run or two in when not climbing. Feel very fat and outta form right now... -

Back to around where I started a year ago. 89kg and a 28:14 5k.
I did manage to get down to 83kg and 24:16 before apathy and gluttony took hold.
Aiming for 76kg and 22:00 in 7 months time (should be easier to shed the weight this time round). That'd be the max I want to be if I get a Marathon place.
70kg (ha!) and a 20:00 in 10 months would be lovely, that'd set me up for IM Wales pretty nicely.

Sounds like a good plan, weight isn't the be all and end all though, I'm heavier (height to weight ratio) than a lot of my club mates and am faster than most if not all of them. focus on a healthy weight....

Having hit 80kg I have decided to stop worrying about it, thanks for the validation Ed. I shall now have a Maxi-Bon.

I fnckin love maxi-bons....
maybe that's part of my problem!

Supposed to be taking it easy and tapering before RoF this weekend but still running my commute. Had someone in black on my shoulder (my conscience?) last night along the Embankment and couldn't shake him off until Stockwell and then only by crossing road Frogger style. However this resulted in PB, running 7 1/2 min/mile instead of my normal 9 1/2 plod. Super scared about prospect of 135 miles.

You should be :D seriously good luck, looks a real toughie :)
I get the feeling I could do with putting on some weight, I'm running o.k but actually felt better when I was a few pounds heavier. Currently 57 kg, lighter than when I left school 28 years ago :D

• #11593
How much do you want? Got at least 15kg going spare...
-
• #11594
Cheers, 57kg? Wow!

Was thinking of this: http://www.everymantri.com/everyman_triathlon/2013/10/guiness-world-record-triathlon-race-report-30-ironman-races-in-a-row.html
But while looking for the link, discovered this psychopath: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/50-ironman-triathlons-50-days-50-states-join-me#/story

He finished it too, apparently- http://www.redbull.com/uk/en/adventure/stories/1331739091635/the-iron-cowboy-did-50-marathons-in-50-states-in-50-day
I've not run for months, off on holiday to Malta on Monday and will be back to it, got these to see if I have the leg strength to run "proper" forefoot.
