  • might have to buy a pair of HOKAs to do that in, be like bouncing along #trainerthread

  • They look a bit Ortho...

  • yeah totally meta ortho belm needs

  • bouncy as fook though my mate brendan swears by them for rollin speed

  • and apparently the surrey league course is nice and swampy.

shame i destroyed my legs yesterday doing a medium long run too fast.

    good luck.

  • Brockwell parkrun- register, rock up, run, chuck up, get time? What the stuff about percentages on the website?

  • Bristol and Bath looks a laugh, same date as Beachy Head so unless I have a late change of heart I'll miss that.

Might run the route though and see what it's like, practically goes past the front door.

  • Brockwell parkrun- register, rock up, run, chuck up, get time? What the stuff about percentages on the website?

Dunno what the percentages thing is, but yes - you turn up, mill about a bit, then leg it round the park three times, then go and get a coffee.

I will be there, if it's not pissing down.

  • Freakin loving running at the moment, was supposed to be doing cadence drills today, but it was sunny, so I set of for a gentle 4 mile run that turned into 6 miles gently getting faster, going out for 10 tomorrow, screw what the training plan says!

  • What the stuff about percentages on the website?

It's how good you are against the world record pace of someone in your age band.

Wimbledon parkrun for me tomorrow. Didn't destroy my legs too much with today's training.

    MUST REMEMBER BARCODE THIS TIME.

This company (endoresed by Parkrun) do barcode wristbands and plastic keyring toggle things: http://www.parkrun-barcode.org.uk/

  • This could be worth following this weekend:

    http://thespinerace.com/2015-race-updates/

It's sounding brutal out there in s.manc so I can't imagine how bad it'll be up there. Serious chapeau to anyone who starts let alone finishes... plus spare a thought for the volunteers/support crews!

Runners all over the world are beginning to discover the benefits of oversized running for themselves

Is this the trainer equivalent of fatbike?

  • A guy from our club is doing the spine race. He reckons between 5 and 7 days. He didn't finish last year.

  • 2 guys I know thru Man Tri will be starting the shorter version at half 9. Crazy race.

Hope your xc goes well today.

Or so I thought. Slowest time ever. Still, at least I remembered my barcode.

  • ^ tough weather?

I got all my bus travel times wrong so about to run 4 miles to XC, belly full of the food I'd be digesting nicely if sat on the bus I can't get.

    #longsteadywarmup?

  • Weather was ok, you get quite good protection from the wind on Putney Heath and I was back home by the time the nasty squalls appeared. I was just slow. Bit busier too (331 finishers).

  • Blimey. Google maps 4 miles is strava 5 miles, point to point all into headwind. I arrived as the callup hooter went, so time only to stash jacket layer in bag and single knot my spikes, arrived at the start as the gun went.

Any plan of a fresh run was gone and this was now the 2nd and muddy half of a long training run for today, with diminishing splits of 16, 17, 18min over the 3 x 3.2km laps I was near the back but didn't mind.

Grateful of a lift home from clubmate instead of bus/tram ordeal.

Despite running there in 4 layers plus hat I hadn't really broken sweat cos of the windchill, so ran the xc in tech tee under merino ls under club vest plus hat and felt a bit cold throughout. Afterwards it hailed/snowed on us as we ate cake.

Fuck knows what its like up on the spine race but looks like the 2 guys I know are in a pack of 10, safety in numbers out there a sensible choice I bet.

  • I was just slow.

Some days that happens, it won't always be the case...

  • @rhb, doesn't sound like an ideal way to run an XC!

Just did a nice 7.5 miler, and discovered a set of 3 steep hills in a mile loop. Soon to become my new hill rep locale.

  • doesn't sound like an ideal way to run an XC!

Certainly not the way to approach any race, good tough session and good for mental strength too tho.

The loop with 3 hills sounds good. We don't have hills s.manc way, gotta travel for them.

  • Yeah I bet. Slightly different but I've been planning to integrate parkrun as a hard 5k interval in the middle of a long run when I'm back to distance running.

  • I've got a friend out there at the moment... Apparently just coming up to a charming place called "Cripple Hole Hill".

Looks tough but also slightly jealous.

  • ^ similarly would love to have a go. Other clubmates are today doing the 20mile trig race the other way finishing in Edale. Much gentler conditions today if still v.windy judging by weather at home.

Almost 1/3rd of the short race field has retired. Ouch.
