Personally I'd be a bit cautious about describing a colour scheme to a third party and then have them detail it to Tommasini, is it not possible to visit Tommasini and talk with them directly?
Oh yeah tell me about it! No I can't deal with Tommasini directly so I am involved in a long drawn out process of spec'ing it up by e-mail - at some point I'll probably have a go at photoshop it - I visited Mercian got measured up - and ended up with a frame too short - so I am only too well aware that it can go horribly wrong!

Like this Marie...;) - beautiful BUT its been done - so I was think blue panels on white - with World Champion stripe decals - and pantographed World Champion stripe Campagnolo NR pista group

i think its a real nice frame, but it does seem right to have chrome on the frame and then black componants. lugged frames with super modern wheels also dont go down well in my taste.

IMHO its beautiful.
As for what wrong with it, I suspect the price. -

£1100 for frame and forks in the UK. Which is a lot but due more to the fall in the value of the pound versus the Euro than anything else I'd imagine.

The UK dealer also accepts euros...:)

It's alright for some lucky people! :-)

I got a good price for the mercian
plus I have all the parts which takes the sting out of it
and it is still cheap compared to a new road bike
I have to make sure I get it right though!

Tommasini recommend their Tecno Track for either heavier riders, or more demanding usage, and their Sintesi Fixed Gear for lighter riders.
Either way, a classic frame deserves a classic colour scheme. Lurid doesn't work for me.
The Olmo Vintage is an alternative, but not really as pretty.

I can't figure out if I love it or hate it?
I love the steel Tommasinis, beautiful frames. Perhaps this colour scheme isn't such a winner because they've lightened the red and the green. Somehow that makes it look too wishy-washy for my taste. Bold colours FTW.

Is this better or worse?
lovely but an idiot

Nosey questions...
Is this replacing or supplimenting that lovely Pinarello?
or are you getting a track version to replace the mercian? -
• #39
smallfurry - the Pinarello is now being re-built - that will be my road bike and will replace the mercian - the tommasini (if I can figure it out) - will become my city bike - after this one I think I am going to stop building bikes and have a bit of a clear out - maybe even sell on the dahon and perhaps even my beloved bareknuckle - after that I'll need a new hobby as no man really needs all these bikes

If your going to have a collection of bikes, might as well be lookers I suppose ;)

The Kenevans does it for me, a good collection of components; Campy cranks, hub ands rims, Chris Bling etc. The frame style and geometry, I want.

once you have built a couple where else do you go..? look at dogsballs ...I have lost count of the number of bikes he has been through! also once you have the component group it is really just a matter of switching frames!

Your're obviously building them to ride them, which I can relate to.
I did however see a disturbing (to me at least) bike on EBay once. A top of the range carbon Trek built up with seriously pricey and light weight components. Every bolt was titanium, and the gear + brake cables cost more than a decent derailler. The bike was being sold basically unridden, at a estimated loss of a grand or so. I got the impression bike was built, purely to be weighed.
Can't really relate to that.

I love riding bikes - I have been riding in traffic for laughs for twenty five years - this place turned me on to the concept of riding distances - I can't wait for my first 100 mile ride on the Pinarello - I built that bike to go Paris Normandy - with nothing more than a couple of tools and a credit card

How about like this ?

I like it. I liked it before though. :-)

OK. Pistanator plus A.N. Other?

Have you considered all red? And please put a quill stem on it! From what I've read of yours on here you have excellent taste (in Italian road bikes) so I would expect that anyway!

The kenevans NEEDS low profile rims!
I'd invert the white and blue to be like this, but then I like blue bikes:
