Stress fracture as well I think. He needs to make sure he heals properly otherwise that'll catch up with him.
He bowls with genuine pace, made some serious players look a bit daft for Warwickshire last couple of seasons.

Ouch. Poor lad.

Just glad to have the England team back playing again. Interested to see this Dukes ball they're using. Also a reminder of the last time Jimmy was around...

And we're having a bowl

Quite an opening spell from Anderson 8-4-5-0!
-
• #6632
Seven maidens out of twelve now for Jimmy...
-
• #6633
and another maiden - ridiculous.

The Windies batsmen have sussed Anderson's gameplan.
After 14 overs they've thrashed his economy rate up to a run an over. -
• #6635
Just checked Cricinfo to find Anderson had broken his 50+ over drought with the dismissal of Hope.

24-12-33-4
Not a bad days work. -

Jimmy is a God

This is why cricket is great: it gets turned on its head in a few moments. The new ball was obviously the catalyst but Anderson is as skilful as ever and doesn’t show much sign of slowing down.
I hope he and Broad will be carefully managed between now and the Ashes.
Stokes was brilliant too. Apparently he’s properly focused and has cut out the booze.

30 overs, 13 maidens, 5-46

44/4!
Why do we persist with the 'specialist' batsmen when we could have 15 allrounders in the Tour Party? Which of the allrounders will save us today? -
• #6641
Jimmy does not deserve this fucking shower
-
• #6642
44/4 suddenly looks reasonable.
-
• #6643
Good job we've got the resolute partnership of Foakes & Curran to guide us past ...
the follow-on target. -
• #6644
Don't know what to say to be honest
-
• #6645
England being toyed with. Seriously though, I hope this signals some kind of resurgence for West Indies cricket. World cricket needs a strong Windies side. Much will be made of a poor England. But those two innings were a super double ton and ton.

This one is in the bag
-
• #6647
Well, the 4 specialist batsmen have chipped in with 150-ish,
best leave it to the all-rounders to knock off the balance. -
• #6648
Sigh

• #6649
Double sigh

Anderson to block for 4 sessions, while Curran hits a triple century?
Nope - no indications of why they might have left him out - maybe they're just shuffling the pack or giving him a rest after his T20 exploits?
Just read about Olly Stone back injury though. Really feel for the lad. From the little I've seen of him, he looks a very decent prospect.
