They're the same quality as Conti tubes. The budget Halfords tubes are shit though--pound shop worthy.

• #1278
One way to find out...
-
• #1279
Any idea what the valve length is on those boardman tubes? Wondering if it's worth making an effort to head to Halford's to buy a batch lot.
-
• #1280
Actually some of the Boardman bar tape is a quid... not the black white or yellow though...
-
• #1281
I think you have to ask yourself. If the inner tubes did function OK. Would you then head to the web and Write a positive review?
-
• #1282
Hmm. Is there a "what inner tube?" thread on here? If not, there's the real problem.
-
• #1283
Could be a poor quality batch and they're selling them for a pound because of the problems.
-
• #1284
Just reserved 3 tubes. Apparently I can pick them this eve from the Putney branch as I swing by on my commute. One of those, seems too good to be true moments.
The £1 bar tape is only available from far flung branches with no delivery, which is a shame as I could do with some blue bar tape. Great if you live near Winnersh though.
EDIT UPDATE:
It was too good to be true. Just got a call, they've all gone already.... -
• #1285
Well,
I'm told I collect the inner tubes I've ordered in '1Hour',
but this is the cycling desert of South Ruislip. -
• #1286
I bought a couple of the £1 tubes in the Whitechapel Halfords during my lunch. Still a few left. Also spotted this 56cm Parallax...

Swung by Halfords on whitechapel and indeed all the road inner tubes were gone as anticipated, but thankfully for me I was actually needing something for 35mm tyres instead, it is virtually same as continental inner tubes (vales are roughly 40mm length for 32/38mm 700c anyways):

Re. 35p stem at Ribble:
Unfortunately I have been asked to contact you regarding your recent order with us. You may have noticed that your order has actually been ‘part-invoiced’, and we have sent you the majority of items on your order, leaving one item outstanding. At the point of despatch the item you are yet to receive was showing as out of stock. As is the nature of online shopping any given product can be purchased by a number of people at the same time world-wide, unfortunately we have to honour the first purchase of this item which does leave us in the position of contacting customers in this manner.
I will arrange to have this item refunded for you.
Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Halfords never let you down in letting you down:
ordered two each
700 x 18-23
700 x 25-28
29 x 2.10-2.30.Counter service agent, also the mechanic assembling a landscape A4's worth of bikes.
disappears into the back/storeroom, and emerges without the 18-23.
Terminal prints out full order,
refuses to allow amendments,
then prints a third receipt/invoice, very nearly now reaching to the floor. As I was paying cash, and this was the credit terminal, we moved a metre across the counter,
and a fourth receipt was printed off at the cash terminal.
South Ruislip Halfords is about 20 minutes away by bike, the round trip and frankly poor Counter Cabaret took 58 minutes.
Let's hope the inner tubes are the rumoured upthread quality. -

My local Halfords is pretty okay. Then again the store manager used to be my boss in a different shop, and he loves to tick boxes. I bet their stock room has never been so ordered.
Looks like the PlanetX price lottery continues, with that never-ending sale.
Yesterday was a cheeky one, each hour was a different 5* rated item at crazy discounts (actually cheaper than elsewhere), but you would be paying postage each item since you had to buy it before the hour ran out.

I don't know whether they're upping their piss-taking, or whether I've just started to notice more. Their merino is still cheap (and good), but everything else is falsely inflated RRPs and crippling postage (is it still £100 until free postage? Says something about the business model...)
-
• #1294
By crippling, I mean it negates the savings made. If you can get a few of you together then the inner tubes are a good deal.

Over £50 free postage.
Agreed it's all a bit of a joke. I was checking previous order prices versus current with savings, and it's up and down all over the shop. I'd been buying little junk things from them like side release clips to use with webbing on the bikepacking kit. Still cheaper than buying off ebay so I had ordered dozens of the things.
Feels very much like impulse spending, buying bits and pieces just to make the postage and hassle of a slow website worthwhile. Billions of tyre levers are littering my floor.
Last thing I ordered was sent by Parcelforce 48, even though the paid option was Yodel 24. Not sure if it was better or worse, since Yodel deliver around 8pm if ever, and at least PF turn up at a reasonable time.

PX always seem to be pushing those red and green LS Tomac jerseys. They're cheap as chips polyester jobbies. I know because I got one at - I think - £19.99, but the price swings wildly between £14.99 and £39.99 depending on how much their ecom team has been drinking that day, it seems.
-
• #1297
Seems like a decent price: https://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-dura-ace-7970-di2-10-speed-sti-levers-64561.html?
-
• #1298
Because they can't be used with 11sp derailleurs, but 6770 shifters can.

Carbon forks, OmNomNoms, Halo wheels and decent finding kit and it looks pretty tidy to boot.. Eastway Esaki currently £485 on Wiggle. Is it me or is that not mad value eg compared to a PreCursa.. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/eastway-esaki-t1-2016/

I can't believe they're that bad. Maybe just something about Halfords customers...
