incidentally, I've been cycling about Dublin forever, it seems, yet I've never seen any of these bikes. It's my failing, undoubtedly.
What I have seen:
That gunmetal grey Mercian. It was my friend's, before he wrecked his knees and went to Melbourne to escape the rain. Also, his chrome Frejus, which I presume is about somewhere in Dublin.
Really nice white Rossin with chrome forks, ridden by a courier. Lovely (small) red/gold Colnago as well, also courier - both up and down Camden Street.
Saving for a Mercian now, but if anyone ever spots a beaten up Fangio conversion, sometimes with child seat attached (I'm hardcore, me), wave.

what about them?

Renalgh really is the place for "fixies" these days. I saw two yesterday on Sandford road. And it seems D4 is staking a claim as the Irish Shoreditch as I keep seeing "fixers" around here.
The nice weather really brought everyone out.

Woodgrain rims are awful, awful things. But the frame is lovely.
Unless of course they're actually wooden, wooden rims are hot!

wooden rims are hot!
I doubt you'd think that if you rode them.
-
• #108
Well... not for the Irish streets anyway but if you were somewhere with nice smooth tarmac or a nice indoor velodrome you'd be laughing!
-
• #109
I think they are banned in most velos.
Anyway, the day has finally arrived (thank god) that "fixies" are no longer "cool". I was cycling up baggot street when a group of Dublin 4 12 year olds said "Fixie.... khuuuul". So I guess thats the end of the "coolness" of "fixieing" finally laid to rest.

Oh thank god, I was getting worried about being cool there for a while ;)

Don't worry, my mates have been giving me grief for the last few months for saying "Fixies" are so played out", but now I have the proof.
I'm a ninja in Dublin and in London, never been spotted and never will.... stealth bike ftw

I'm a big camp flamboyant glamster riding around on a purple sparkle bike... I don't think stealth bike makes a difference ;)
Stealth fork is finally on the way though :)

Was it you??
Lush bike by the way but why the aero lid?? Bit OTT no?? Then again I'm riding an aluminium track frame with a crabon fibre fork for going to the shops so I'm not one to talk, just busting your balls man ;)
So go on... helmet explanation?
-
• #122
Yeah, wouldnt say its very road cycling safety orientated is it...?
-
• #123
speed is the most important thing, and theyre not "skinny jeans" theyre aero-jeans. Nah, it belongs to a mate, i personally think the aero lid is hilarious, its got to be taken with a pinch of salt, its better than wearing a skater lid and looking like an overgrown 12 year old for one.
I am gonna tell him.
-
• #124
Fair point... still... what's wrong with wearing a nice normal Road/ XC helmet?? Something that offers a level of protection?? Get him on here, we'll get him, lol!
By the way, you can tell him Dublin's NJS wars are about to begin
Mwahahahahahahahahahah

I wear a skate lid, partailly because I like it and also because I cant afford a road helmet.:P
