tynan, what did you use for the tubing of the post? I mean i would suppose its plastic, but how thin before it snaps under your own weight.
It's a Thomson seatpost, rock solid, no snappy snappy.
And where did you keep the battery pack? Surely it would have been easier to shove the battery wires and lighting all inside the tube?
It is and that is how it ended up, this pictures are snaps I took the night I finished it.

Clefty dear, can you give us a tutorial when you have them sorted, I have nearly bought a set a few times, but was put off by all the voodoo you have to do.

Tynan, my love
As long as you're competent with a soldering iron, you should be fine, we literally followed the online guide on the ladyada site which has large pictures, and it worked fine. Its pretty straightforward, make sure you get the dongle kit as well - mine is serial.
So far I only have one built up (my kit is red) However after some research in the area I think I might build the second one up with tricolour LED's (RGB) as with some work you can get full colour pictures like this:
just need to buy the led's and try it out.
Will let you know how I get on. -

Thats a real nice piece of work Tynan, is it your own hand? Tell me more about the seat post ... I'm intrigued.

Both.
Tell me more about the seat post ... I'm intrigued.
Basically it is a normal seatpost (Thomson) with a very thin electroluminescent panel wrapped around it and powered from a 6V DC inverter.

Tres cool, I've never seen those before. I'm going to buy one now though.

Never heard the expression 'Great Dog' ?
What is this, bestiality of some kind ?

It's a shame you can't get an inverter that could tuck in under your saddle, it's pretty impressive as it is, but hiding the power supply would rock.

I've told you before, we do strange things out here on the Island. Just wasn't expecting to see you use the expression great god.

I think I mentioned it above, but that is an old photo done on the night I finished the post, since then I made an inverter that slides down inside the seatpost.
One other thing I am thinking of doing is to run the wires through the padding in the saddle and have a very small space vertically between two points in the wire, so that it connects when you put pressure on and switches off when you take your fat arse off.

fuck me. i'd buy one of them.

There is an odd - and misplaced - idea that atheists spend all their time trying to avoid language with Christian or religious references (even though our culture, language, and customs are predominately Christian), that they burn with rage on seeing a Christmas trees and demand all churches are burnt to the ground (and so on).
It is of course a silly idea. I use 'Great god' in the same way you might probably use 'To hell with you', not as a literal request to send someone to the Judeo-Christian god's gas chambers, but as a culturally Christian expression, as I, like most people brought up in the UK, am culturally Christian.
But marrying off your first born to the local goat ? And setting alight to tourists ? I think It is you who has the explaining to do, Island man.

Have an ingenious notion for custom seatpost with integrated red LED's to eliminate the need for rear light, must give it a go with an old post I have and see how it turns out, would be epic if it works out and they're bright enough to do the trick!!!
Anyone ever seen this before or am I really onto something new here??

I've also got a couple of boxes of those LED brake blocks, £1.50 a pair if anyone wants them.
