You should be pushing the Bikes for Africa sponsorship too Teddy it'd only be polite of some of them to honour it in return for the tweedspiration - do Bikes for Africa have a justgiving page or one on http://www.thebiggive.org.uk/ ?

Actually, looking at the lurker list, **Amsterdamize **is reading this at the moment.
Hello Sir / Madame, can I ask you what you think of the donation to a UK charity working in Africa? Do you think people would be willing to contribute money towards their work, even if its a non governmental organisation not based in the Netherlands?

"All that remains is for these bamboo freaks to band together and take to the streets, like those Tweed Run weirdos in London."
"..."Tweed Run weirdos in London"...they're english...pretty self explanatory..."
I think this may just be a clash of different cultures of snobbery. ;)
coming from bikesnobnyc, I'd take that as a compliment. The man's desperate in an ugly lycra-infested world. Philosophically he's the man sitting in that hole in the ground, looking at a tree's shadow, wondering whether it's reality or not. :)

Who was I talking to during the queue for drinks at Bethnal Green WMC? I think we came up with *"Ginpatience" *then too. I then got distracted realising that OOLangster's wife hadn't brought out the £2000.00 mink coat for the day. Pounds and Pence FTW.

Yes, I do. I know plenty of people who've done that, including myself (donated to Canadian and Danish organisations before). There are no boundries, it's all about the cause and showing the results.

Salutations my fine brethren,
I hope your don't find it too uppity of us Colonials, but it's been suggested that we organize a similar ride of our own here in Boston. Might you be willing to advise on the particulars?
If you'll join us for tea down by the harbor, the party will be my treat.
Ta very much,

Boston is in Lincolnshire, not Lancashire.
Anyway, 'Colonials' gave it away.
Nice joke about the Tea Party.
I wonder, chiccyclist, what on earth you'd need advice about? Get bike, get tweed, meet up, ride. Couldn't be simpler. Unfortunately, I reckon your Police over there are unlikely to roll over and want their tummies scratched in the ways ours did, so maybe stop at red lights.

@Scully, like all superb events that just "seemed" to organise themselves, there was a s**t load of work put in by a dedicated few both beforehand, and on the day.
I cannot remember who said it but it reminds me of the following
"I find that after five rehearsals, I get the right level of spontinaety"
Well worth gathering information from the organisers, assuming they are willing to share their collective wisdom.

Incredibly, they've used one of the three photos in which I feature, and the only one in which I look human. Very chuffed.
