  • Also, I'm waiting for this too come out, it looks rawwwww.

YouTube- Slow Southern Steel Movie Trailer

    THIS, I like. Fuck. Yeah.

  • One of the members blew a few toes of with a shotgun recently, they had to cancel a couple of tour dates.

ha ha yeah that was Dixie... mentalist of the highest order, lovely bloke to boot.

Such Hawks was a good watch I saw it after getting back from from Roadburn last year I think my mate had got an advance copy as she'd contributed to the costs. it explained to the missus my utter love for Sleep et al

Boris are playing on Monday at the garage although not technically heavy metal.. they will be heavy.

Anyone thinking of going to High Voltage this year?? I'm going on the Sunday, I would have gone for Saturday as well, but Heaven and Hell Cancelled cause of Dio :(

    http://www.highvoltagefestival.com/line-up/full-artist-line-up/

Also while I'm at it anyone journeying far and wide to head to Hellfest? the line up is killer again

Sunday at the terroriser tent is simply stunning

  • it explained to the missus my utter love for Sleep et al

Did you go to the Sleep ATP? Literally the greatest thing ever, Jesus Lizard and Sleep back to back, two nights in a row. Sleep were fucking phenomenal.

  • I don't think Slow Southern Steel is out yet, it's not even had a release I don't think.

I've got a copy of Such Hawks, Such Hounds though, I'll send you a link if you'd like?

Thank you. That would be much appreciated.

Yes, yes I did, it was fucking brilliant. I only saw Jesus Lizard the first night and they blew me away.

I was just as excited about seeing Sleep the 2nd time... cracking stuff

Needless to say I was gutted when Shrinebuilder cancelled recently cause of the volcano

I just read this lineup, screwfacing the entire way though. Man, I might have to be heading out to that.

  • Oh and can anyone else back up my 10/10 wife-ittude to Liz Buckingham?

Man, she is super pretty and also plays bass in 'leccy wizard, and used to be in Sourvein.

Liz, if you're reading this, my intentions are honourable and slightly sexy.

She's married to Jus I think... lucky lucky bastard

Shaun and Tas were at the recent Catherdral show, they were both utterly pissed (I think) Never seen Tas that bad before difficult getting sense out of him.

Do it Mech go to Hellfest, I went last year and it was a blast

  • I have reached an impasse with metal. My all time faves are:

    Slayer
    Metallica
    Pantera
    Lamb of God

Who, past or present, would I also enjoy?

  • I am liking the metal cheese that is Manowar these days ... Total bollox , but fun to listen to.

Pantera all the way ... and my first love Black Sabbath.

  • Shit I forgot black sabbath off my list. disgrace

  • And dont anyone suggest The Haunted. I quite like them, dont get me wrong, but I dont think they match Slayer or LoG.

  • ^ Fuck yeah to this.

Pantera are my all time favourite band. MANY people come close but they will always reign king.

I'll go with the Pantera angle for now

    Down, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar

yes that was lazy.. see how you get on with those

    Since you like Sabbath try
Heaven & Hell, Saint Vitus, Goatsnake

  • Already listened a lot to Crowbar and Down. Alright but not amazing. Thats whats weird about metal, it seems to me. Once you hear something so intense it amazes you other stuff doesnt seem to compare no matter how decent it is.

  • Hadn't heard of this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Anselmo#Eibon

Motherfuck -- Phil and Fenriz! Epic win!!1

    Try
Baroness, Kylesa, Today is the Day and maybe the new Triptykon

    that's a fair range

  • St. Vitus are awesome! Wino is a god to me. All his segments in Such Hawks are ludicrously funny. He grows chillies now, as well as playing in Shrinebuilder.

Good shout on Baroness though. I saw them live and they slayed it. However, no-one in the audience fucking moved, it was a real shame. Loads of gnar bastards with facial tattoos and beards, but they were too busy clutching on to their scene girlfriends to do much apart from nod along to the final boss riffage Baroness were kicking out. Real shame.

I saw Russian Circles in the same place, but I'd taken too much valium and smoked too much pot so I couldn't move. They ruled though, it was them and Earthless and they took me to fucking space.

Does anyone like Black Pyramid? Last.fm keeps recommending them to me but I've not been bothered to listen to 'em yet?

Also, not really heavy metal, more like bastard rock, but I've been getting really into Zeke recently. Fast, tight nasty rock and roll from a bunch of hellions who are really really into motorbikes.

    YouTube- ZEKE - Viva Agostini!

(also, probably the wrong place to mention it, but I'm really into screamo. Anyone else?)

  • you talking about the Underworld Mech?

Earthless were great but Russian circles are only good when they really kick it, the rest is a bit meh for me

Black Pryamid are worth a listen I've got the self titled and it's all heavy slow doom but spacey in places riffage...noice. Like a much better version of what the Sword could have been

I can probably knock together a YSI if you're interested, drop me a pm

  • Nopes, Islington Mill in Manchester. I'm with you on Russian Circles, they're mathy enough to really stand out when they drop hammers, really tech; but apart from that it's pretty standard prog metal. However, when they go for it, OH BOY.

I'm got the Black Pyramids S/T on download now, thanks though! I'll give it a listen and get back to y'all.

  • Did you go to the Sunn show at the Mill? It was fucking brutal!

  • Nah, I couldn't make it, but I've seen then before a few times. My friend saw that tour in london, wasn't O'Malley dressed up with laser needle fingers and a grim spine crown? I fucking love that guy.

You up for riding out to Wolves In The Throne Room and Tweak Bird at the Mill on the 23rd mate? It'd be nice to meet some other Mancunians who enjoy riffs and those bikes what you can't stop pedalling on.

p.s. I've got that Black Pyramid album now... Holy fuck where are these riffs coming from? Ancient Mars? Ultimate death-shreds

  • Re: Sunn it wasn't O'Malley he's too busy playing excruciatingly slowly it's Xanthar or whatever he's called, pretty trippy when your bowels are vibrating

Glad you like the BP stuff

Here's a free mp3 From Grand Magus off the new album
