  • Thanks for your help, I'm coming from Chesterfield so I'll google map it to find out exactly where it is, unless somebody with a very big heart could meet me at the train station to lead the way? (don't ask don't get)

Do people take spare mallets up for us folk who've never done it before to have a tinkle around with?

Got a helmet and the bikes alright ( once I've sorted the rear wheel out) anything else I'm missing?

  • You have PM...

  • Beers, LOADS of them :)

  • Well, i'm finally in London so... where do you play today?
Are you going to play today indeed?

  • The experienced guys are playing at Newington tonight. Link here

If you haven't played before, then you are probably better off joing us in Peckham every Tues evenings. Link here

Welcome to London if you are new here or welcome back!

  • yeah, come to Newington tonight alcahambra

  • We are trying to get more number down at Peckham, John, it was just the 6 of us last night... :-(

  • He isn't a beginner though, so need to wait almost a week to play…

  • experienced palyers are also needed down in Peckham!!! Sandy you should come more often!!

  • Yeah, I'll probs be down every now and again but with the league starting in 1-2 weeks I'll have less time.

Afaik almacabra is only in town for 2weeks

  • Yeah, but i wouln't mind to stay for a long time...

Well, i hope to find newington...

    See you there

  • Hi again.

I see 4 possible places where you play today so, which one is going to be the chosen one?

  • Sebastián, mira aquí... Ya nos veremos el Domingo... ¡Ciao!

  • Check this thread:
    https://www.lfgss.com/thread6372-300.html
But it looks like it's going to be mitchison.

  • Basically A mate and I want to have a go at polo. the only day we can do is thursday. I know this isnt a beginners day or anything but would it be ok if we came along and had a go? Both of us have a lot of riding experiance but nothing like polo.

  • I dont tend to do polo at thursdays but Bouncy: YES! just go to any polo!

  • I just got an email from someone in Richmond wanting to know the details of how to get started. I think this thread is probably too out of date and not clear enough. I wonder if we should start a new thread that just has basic info about what bike polo is and how to get started?

For example, just posting the current NS ruleset might be good. Do we have that somewhere handy?

  • Here are these:

    http://www.lhbpa.org/how-to-play/
    http://www.lhbpa.org/what-you-need/

But I don't see the NS rules ...

  • I found these through google, but there is no direct link that I could find on the LHBPA site. Should we put one up?

    http://www.lhbpa.org/resources/LHBPA_Bike_Polo_Rules.pdf

  • Those LHBPA rules are woefully out of date now (all bike polo rules are), I'm waiting to see what Greg/Clement pull together for the Euros/Worlds and we can either use that moving forwards or re-write the LHBPA ones to be in line with them (a better version, etc).

That resources folder is full of gumpf that I link tournament organisers to, but I suppose we should have a public facing link to our current ruleset, maybe wait until it's been updated (or not)?

  • I don't see it being a problem putting them up in their current state as a resource. The fundamentals of polo are unlikely to change, so it's always going to be a good staring point. As and when rules are amended or clarified, the resources can be updated.

  • tell them to come to westway tomorrow evening.

  • hi, i went to the London Open `12 Games this weekend and had a lot of fun watching it. So now i want to try it out and see if it's really a sport for me! Is it ok if i just come and have a look at the weekend when you're playing? As i live in North London I'd prefer playing around there, but however... ah and i dont have any equipment or something but i just want to have a little try..
    hope someone will answer.naomi

  • hi Naomi, great to hear that the London Open made you want to start playing. Come tomorrow from 5-10 to the Westway Sports Centre as there is a beginners session with some bikes and mallets that you can borrow. (its 15 min walk/5 min cycle from Kensal Rise overground station or 5 mins walk from Latimer Rd tube)

Check this thread for more details: https://www.lfgss.com/thread14038-108.html

There is also going to be a beginners session at London Fields at 10 on Saturday too

  • Naomi, there are loaner bikes and mallets at the Westway Sports Centre tomorrow evening, so you just have to turn up and you can play.
