oh look what have I started, I was just being moody having sold my perfectly good cheap create bike that I've had for 3 years, now being bikeless, and now contemplating starting a build from scratch but knowing that I can even afford a frame with the geometry that I want, yet alone the parts to put on it.
I do however have a great thomson stem, and so pretty awesome fluo sidis that are a size too small. they just look at me in a mocking way and I am miserable.
Note to self: sell the pornworthy TT bike, not the shitty polo bike. -

I've recently changed from (26x)1.1 tyres to 1.25... The difference that has on handelling is immense.
Was going to do the same, whats it feel like?

Well it's a bit more complicated than I made out... I've got a 700 rear (pomp) and recently put a 26 on front to tighten it up. 26x1.1 was pretty twitchy (which is kinda what I was aiming for), turns out 26x1.25 feels really controlled, which means I feel safer turning more sharply.
But also notice the softness of a bigger tyre...

1.25 isn't big. >2.0" is big in a slick/tarmac tyre, like hookworms or big apples.
Today was first day (riding polo bike) I rode to work, got there without feeling rushed or stressed, then when I rode back I took a few long cuts to explore some new corners of the city. On road bike its always go fast go fast go fast, but on stupid twiddly low gearing you sort of just coast along, quite enjoyed it lol.

^ each one looks worse than the other.
IMO it looks like Fixcraft have taken a trick bike and just stuck their logo on it and called it a polo bike. A missed opportunity, shame.

Looks like they've only got access to one headtube length, which is making all of them look weird.

What you saying?

They don't look like they're going up in size apart from the seattube. Then they all look like saddle is at same height. Bit weird. TT must change... Any geo info?
Like the look of the small. -

Hello
Little question:Does 3 parts BMX crankset can suit with 135mm rear hubs? Is there long enough axles ? On 68mm BB ...
-
• #9313
68 is standard so no prob. Should link up ok to a 135 rear.
You don't need a longer axle as you're not changing BB size. -

My current bike set up.
Going to get new dropouts on my forks to get 25mm of rake. But need to ease on the spending at the moment.
Also, not that anyone will care, but I have moved from a 74cm mallet (circa January) to a 100cm mallet.

With regards to wheel size trends, to me it seems 700c is only popular because in the States it is hard to find compact 26inch frames.
So track frames and 700c replaced the common mtb.To me, 26 has a lot more benefits, especially considering the sizes of the courts (even the large ones) that we play on.
That said, it doesn't really matter either way, and personally I find that adjusting contact points are the only things that make a considerable difference.

It matters: shorter wheelbases and less rotating weight is going to beat stability and goal keeper bikes for the foreseeable future. That being said some people play great polo on 700c, but in my opinion the same players/teams would improve their game on 26".
Have you geared up Emmet? That seemed like another crazy NA trend?

Super rad repair job man!
Also you just reminded me I still have no mallet

Yeah, I agree, it makes a difference. Yet still don't think it really matters.
I have not geared up.
I considered it at first, being surrounded by 45gi +.
But I find that being spinnier definitely gives me the edge.Super massive wide bars are awesome though.

Your pole awaits, come get it at the weekend...

Oh they care Emmet, longer mallets have been discussed to death here! Glad to see the bike lives on. x

• #9321
FWIW, I would still encourage new players to use a short mallet to develop ball handling skills and gradually build from there.
And while I am here throwing around my worthless opinions, what on earth were Fixdaft thinking?
-
• #9322
I know, I can only assume they were going for a larger market than solely bike polo?
BTW: Have you learnt how to pass yet? Are you and Koyo blood brothers? No postcards? WTF?

about fucking time!

If I could afford a polo specific frame, I'd pay the money out tomorrow.
