  • Wait, what happened to Jimmy?

  • Not polo related, unless you count falling down stairs whilst carrying his polo bike!

(I don't know if it was his polo bike, he just told me it was 'a' bike)... Twisted his ankle, quite badly by the sounds of it (for a twist), but should be back in a week or two.

  • could he not have done that after our league game
    thats just selfishness jimmy

  • shonky welding not deserving of a yeti paint-job.

  • The hold out: this is the same frame, and some of the same parts that I started playing polo with in 2008.

    For the record:

Bridgestone RB-1, with retro-fitted rear-facing d/outs, and seized in seat post, and a totally ruined seat-cluster.
    Random h/bar & 6c quill stem.
    Turbo ti rails saddle.
    MKE 48h hub / B42 front // OTP 48h rear
SJS Cycles Twin Cable Pull brake lever
    Jag-wire inner & outer
Oval rear mount aero front brake caliper
    Diacompe "conversion" rear brake caliper
    1988 Deore triple c/set
    Shimano 18t freewheel

(cheers to Will for the photo!)

Interesting write up. I did what he/she did and went for the most straight-forward, unfuckupable design: straight seat tube, no integrated seat clamp, normal headtube, canti mounts in the usual place... After reading that and Colin's description, I fully expect to get something on the shoddy end of basic, but they're the cheapest polo frames you can get, and I couldn't justify spending double on something nicely finished.

If it handles better than my Pompino and doesn't crack, I'll be happy.

shonky welding not deserving of a yeti paint-job.

Shonky paint/sticker job matches shonky welds!

  • My Marino is great, maybe the increased work load he had now is making him rush things.

  • My welds look better than those too

snoops: ahead of the curve since before polo was even concieved

  • Tubs are looking hot for AW13. Expect ergo grips to be standard by summer 12.

PooBah thing is reaching breaking point; expect road shoes and look delta next spring, for weight and stifness (obvs), who even unclips anymore?

  • carbon soles for people who don't dab, it just makes sense

can i have yours then please?

  • Finally got pics of this, fairly happy with it now. Front end is light enough to move around now whereas before I couldn't lift the front wheel more than an inch. Derailleur/tensioner is a spare bit of 5mm from the dropouts, M10 bolt holds it in place. I'm going to swap the risers for flat bars and flip the stem. I want to change the forks but can't find exactly what I want so I'll probably end up adjusting some to fit.

Want to get some external BB cranks and disc brakes but they can wait until I change bikes.

  • tight yo, at the back

  • I like em tight.

  • That's what she said... And so on...

  • Tight in the back, slack in the front... Aw, school days...

  • Ghetto tube crimp and custom chainstay box, yo...

    Need lighter tyres though.

  • Needs a new tyre as it's through to the webbing and I doubt I'd fit a new 1.75" in there. Might go for a 1.6 or a 1.5, depends what I find cheap. CBA increasing the crimp. Also needs a 34T ring to stop it rubbing on the chainstay...

it dosnt sound like they knew what they were doing so much anyway, asking for 'a downward sloping top tube' probably didn't submit a bike CAD file
