Is there a reason why everyone seems to be going for long forks/short headtube on the Marino 26" bikes?
Integrated headtubes in stock sizes.....

Makes sense - I just think it looks funny, but I guess it would make no difference to the ride, apart from theoretically more flork flex...

For anyone considering getting a Mister X:
I ordered my frame on October 26th and had originally told the turnaround would be under a month. When I was told the frame would be arriving on Monday I was pretty excited and was already a bit miffed by how long it had taken. Me and Woods_alexis were emailed telling us to return the frames as soon as they arrived because there was a problem with them.
It has now descended into emails like this:

to me
NEXT WEEK I WRITE YOU ALL INFO FOR TIME !
THIS WEEK IS WAY TOWORK!Which is a bit ridiculous. He's pretty bad at communicating in English and it was fine until now, but in the face of a crisis, he's not holding up well.
I cannot comment on the bike yet, but so far dealing with him hasn't exactly been great!

Ditto
Alexis has had an even harder time. I refused to accept the parcel from the courier which meant that it went straight back to Italy (AFAIK), but Alexis had his sent to work and it was received and he now has to organise a courier to pick it back up again.
All very silly and apparently something to do with the frambuilder making a mistake and not realising unti three days after the frames were sent!

So you're saying Peruvian labour is better than Italian labour?

I don't know if it's better or not. But I know a Peruvian that is doing a hell of a job, that's for sure.

Fully recommend Max Power.
Finished building the bike on Tuesday and though I haven't played on it yet it handles exquisitely. He was always fast to respond, friendly and clear and there is not a bad word I can say about communication, payment or delivery... I'll say some more once it's seen it's first two league games this weekend.

i've been talking with Triton about a new titanium polo/mtb frame mostly after seeing the quality of Gabes' one, plus the 'multi-use' factor, as I do a bit of mtb'ing too. Dmitry has helped out alot and given this initial bikecad as food for thought:
I'm not convinced though, the effective top tube seems too long for me (i'm 5ft8) and I want to use a slightly longer stem (80mm) to get a more even weight distribution. using this geo will stretch me out much like my current NS, I think. anyone got any advice on shortening the top tube whilst maintaining decent-ish toe overlap and good angle on the seat tube? TY!

Slacker headtube angle? With different rake on the forks to make the trail the same. Maybe?
-
• #7847
Slacker headtube, would make it better for MTBing too.
-

75 degrees of head angle is about 10 degrees off current MTB trend...
Why is the drawing showing actual top-tube length and not effective?
I don't think you'll ever make a dual purpose mtb/polo bike that's good for both disciplines. Current MTB geo is all about long, low, slack (putting it simply), whereas polo is almost a direct contrast. Having said that, I think there's a tremendous amount of hot air spouted about geometry by bike manufacturers.
Slackening the head angle and adjusting the rake to give the same trail would increase the wheelbase, wouldn't it?
Best to just accept that you need two bikes and spend the money proportionately on whichever one you use most. The only way you could optimise both setups is by factoring in a long suspension fork which would automatically slacken the head angle (but then you'd get a higher b/b).

Wouldn't it be a ballache to change the forks over every time you wanted to change from polo to MTB? Although, judging by gabes' photo a couple of pages back, maybe it's not...
"what would William do"
I likes it will, clipless too!
