I'm sure i could live :P how much are you looking for? Forgot to add i'm trying to be tight, Reading tickets were fuking expensive...
How much is it worth to you? I would let it go cheap especially if its gonna be for polo but I also need to raise funds!

So, I'm thinking about going clipless, to start with on the road bike, but ultimately on the polo bike.
I have never ridden clipless, and know very little about the various systems, beyond that everyone has their own opinion on them.
Most people who are clipless in polo ride SPDs right? I guess it might make sense to go with whatever the majority use, for emergency repairs.
I really like the idea behind the speedplay zero pedals, but I don't think they would be so good for polo, having to turn your foot that much.
So with SPDs, I've noticed most people ride pedals like these:
But some are riding these:
What's the thinking behind that? Protect the peddle? Easier to ride with normal shoes?

i think the advantage of the ones at the bottom are that you can play with normal shoes if need be, as you can't ride very far on SPD pedals in normal shoes withou cages. Also mnaybe easier to get your foot onto the bigger surface when you unclip and need to get back in fast?
I went SPD about 6 weeks abo and haven't regretted it once. Took a couple of falls at first to teach myself that it isn't that hard to unclip, you do it automatically most of the time -

I would guess that speedplays wouldn't be so good for polo, the great thing about spd's is they're so easy to jump out of, time's seem to be slightly less so, plus spd cleats last loads longer, I assume the plastic add on is just so you can play/ride in normal shoes if you so desire.

I had the Shimano M242s (?) on my road bike for a while, and rode the clipless no problems. They're also a super tough pedal, so can take some scratching/bashing etc.

There's a whole thread about this, some of the poloistas joined in.
Synopsis: Most poloers use Time (I think) those that don't use SPDs. If SPDs make sure you don't get the multi directional release ones.
Mrak thought he was super tough clipping out on an up pull, turns out they're supposed to do that. lol.Edit, yes the plastic side is for non cleat shoes.
Good luck.
(SPDs ftw) -

(SPDs ftw)Hmm, maybe I misunderstood that, but I thought multi-release meant you could unclip in both directions, left and right, and that that's a good thing for polo...

Nah, single release means both left and right, cos the cleat is symmetrical. Also, there are two different types of caged pedals; some have the clip on one side and a normal flat pedal on the other, whereas most are just a double sided pedal with a resin cage to improve foot stability/protect the pedal.

Hmm, it's more of a long term thing really, wasn't planning on buying anything before I get back from holiday. I'll keep it in mind though.

I thought speed play are both multi and uni directional depending on how much you tighten the relevant spring?
I don't know if the walking problems with speedplay would be bad for polo, from my own research I came to the (probably wrong) conclusion that time atac are better than spd?
I've only really used spd though but still think they'd be better for polo than straps.
Cazza's probably drunk...
