Has anyone tried the H+Son EERO Rims? (H+'s trick rim) not cheap I imagine but then neither are chukkers and they look like they could be pretty damn bombproof.
-
• #4503
I wouldn't risk H+'s stuff for polo, pretty pantsly made.

I was under the impression the early teething problems had been ironed out, in fact I remember hearing similar stories about the first batch of Chukkers. Anyway, just interested, im not actually in the market for rims at the moment anyhoo.

maybe they have ironed it out, i don't honestly know.

what bike does ven have?
-

Does anybody have a spare barrel adjuster with the smaller size threading?
like the ones found on the odyssey london mod -
• #4510
Yeah, probably... I thought you needed two?
-
• #4511
I did, but found a barrel adjuster on a brake caliper that fits. If you do have one that would be great
-
• #4512
If Jono doesn't I probably have a few lying around.

I did for a while.
they are reaaaally solid. The main drawbacks are for 1 no braking surface (squeaky and not very good braking.... nevermind when it rains), 2 the price and last but not least they are heavy (something along 7-800g just for the rim)
But like I said, they were strong. Reaaaaaally strong. -
• #4514
Do they not do a machined version?
although I guess if they're meant to be 'trick' rims, then why would they. Interesting to know they're as strong as they look though.

Jon and Ed, if either of you could bring one of those barrel adjusters today, that would be awesome.

They also make generic off the pegs which looks strikingly similar to Unipacks, a friend sent me a link to their site recently saying he was going to get one (!)
-
• #4521
Looks like a sloppy turd. They shouldn't even be allowed to call that a polo bike.
-
• #4522
It's a shame, because I reckon polo could do with some decent, cheapish off-the-peg bikes. The biggest problem with this one is the toe-overlap, because it can't really be corrected by changing components. Even with a freewheel and brakes, it would cause problems!
Something like this, with a longer front-centre, double v-brakes and freewheel option for £300-400 would help people without bike knowledge get into the sport.
-
• #4523
£300-£400 without bike knowledge would encourage uptake?
-
• #4524
exactly, most peoples first polo bikes are usually much cheaper than that.
-
• #4525
Mine was 100 quid, the wheels cost me 70!
Some parts for sale....good for polo or 700c general pleasure...check here...
