  • Mat, you got any spare black stems for trade or sale?
My elementary has slipped once too many times.

  • I'm afraid not...toddy has my old redneck stem on the sword

  • James (aufbruch) might have one going Em.

  • Cheers guys. Will give him a shout next time I see him (Provided I haven't crumbled and bought one by then).

  • Oh and Em...pm me where that hackney wick bank is. Cheers

  • Done.

  • Switch my commute and my polo bike around. Just ridden it feels good. See ya monday.

  • nice, but why you bother if youve quit polo...or are you on the way back in?

  • Never been a fan of the Pompino but that looks bloody good.

  • Looks way better! Do you run a smaller tyre on the front?

  • no both 35c rear marathon, front ribmo.

i'm finding it really hard to get used to my old saddle height again.

  • Who did the reaming Snoops?

  • Bit personal...

  • velorution reamed to 30.0, didn't have a 30.4 reamer (which is what Per said it should be). but it appears to be working at 30.0.

  • Why do some people have a thicker/wider front tyre?

  • Its meant to help with balance

  • I dont have because of balance, it helps to roll over the ball in the case you catch it
also, it get you higher of the ground so better for pedal strike. Also if you have front brake it will help you stop better

  • ^ he'd never admit it but spaniards have great balance for fleets of armadas but rubbish on bikes. Its for balance.

  • oh ok well I'm fine I never fall off, i'll stick with my 25c

  • except when rik smashes into you and blames you for being drunk, he's so dirrrrrty that man.

  • I know and it's not like I get completely inebriated from 1 can of kronenbourg or anything

  • better balance? never heard of that in either road or mtb circles (i'm pretty ignorant about bmx however).

larger volume tyres mean you have a larger contact patch and hence more grip and also mean you can run lower pressures without pinch-flatting. low pressures help the tyre deform over bumps or imperfections which aids grip further.

it's worth remembering that a 'big' 26" slick like apples use has a similar diameter to a 23c/25c roadie tyre. i reckon the ball bounces further off big tyres, too.

for me, there's no reason to run skinny tyres on a polo bike unless you have frame clearance issues.

  • how the hell would different tyres help with balance?

    this is how:
