  • Thats huge. Get a unicycle instead.

  • check it, check it, check it, check it out!

  • Whats the Toe overlap gonna be like on that?

  • who's building it, josh?

  • head/seat angles and how tall are you?

  • yeah whos building that up for you josh?

  • head and seat tube angles are both 73, i am 5'9" with long legs/short torso, toe overlap should be minimal or none with the 165mm cranks (or shorter if i can find some), and it's being built by ricky feather - http://feathercycles.blogspot.com

  • Hey josh looks interesting... hows he gonna handle the rear stays and lug work?

  • Just noticed the angles on the drawing - I should pay more attention to the forum while I'm at work.

Are you getting a fork made as well or using a stock one? Lugged or fillet brazed? Was wheelbase your primary concern when designing the frame? What sort of tubes are going to be used?

  • I should pay more attention to the forum while I'm at work.

    this is work. :)

  • pretty much - especially when the end is in sight.

  • Just started playing polo and looking to build up a bike specifically for purpose. Anyone got a frame they want rid of? 56-58cm. max £40. Stem, BB and seatpost would be nice too.

Just keep your eyepeeled on the for sale classifieds in the main forum and the polo ebay thread

My saddles starting to get a bit tatty, any one recommend something comfy and with loooooooonnnnnnggggg rails???

  • My saddles starting to get a bit tatty

    euph?

  • its got gaffer tape ALL over it.

  • thats how you like it.

  • door.

  • Can anybody suggest a nice short pair of cranks? 155 or the like..

£50 165 or 155. two chain rings...me, jono, ali and bianca all have these. Me Jono and Ali cut the teetg of the bigger chain ring and run it as a bash guard.

  • it's probably gonna be reynolds 631 with columbus life on the rear. when i designed it, i started from ST/TT, then added the ST/HT angles, then BB height, found an OK fork rake (it should actually be bar-spinnable), and brought in measurements for the chainstay. i did want a short wheelbase, but that sort of was a result of all the other decisions. originally i was going to try to have interchangable wheel sizes, with caliper mounts that fit 700x23 for touring and summer riding, and removable canti mounts for winter (canadian winter) and cross. i decided to scrap that idea and just roll 26" year round. the dropouts will be rear-facing with a hanger from either paragon or surly, so i can run a 5-7 speed for long hauls.

ricky is also building the fork, and things will be lugged where possible. it will be fillet brazed where lugs can't suit, or be modified. ricky offered to manufacture custom lugs but it's a bit too much for my budget. he's doing a frame for another guy in leeds where all the lugs are custom. not sure how the rear stays will fit in since i'm not a framebuilder, but the chainstay is 10mm longer than typical for 26" so i don't suspect it will be a problem?

i'm pretty excited for this bike since not only will it be a great bike for polo, but it should be incredibly comfortable to ride 100k+.

  • rally lookign forwards to seeing this dude! how long is the wait do you think? the reast of the feather cycles i have seen have been pretty sick

  • Sounds awesome - look forward to seeing the results!

  • Pricy bit of kit, but pretty cool. Would it even be legal?

  • Something is not illegal just because it was made 18 years before you were.

  • why would that be illegal? no different to using a gear shifter? looks sweet, but pricey
