  • So apart from getting locked out and not getting the job I was hoping for (rant thread>>>) today was productive...

Picked this up for £60 as I've been wanting to use the Steamroller as a comfortable daily ride..

and started migrating parts over. I'll either use a caliper brake for now, get some V brake mounts brazed on, or get some V brake forks. We'll see.

Good things: higher bb than the steamroller, tighter wheelbase and a shorter toptube. Time will tell.

    Velvet forks

Any cheaper options? Or does anyone have any V brake forks with at least 24cm of steerer?

  • Those fork legs look pretty round, you might be able to use clamp-on bosses, or one of those booster-style plates (ask Beagle)

  • Never used one, do you have a pic of how they clamp on? I assume one bolt through the brake hole and two hose clamps/p-clips/band clamps?

  • apollo polos now?

  • Oh hai I see you noticed two words look alike u must have a phd

  • ha, prepare to concede a wheelie goal

  • I got few of these http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/images/prod_298.jpg

i also need one of those if you have them going?

The clamp on bosses I use are for DMR trailblades which have a diameter of 31.8 but my forks blades are 28.6. Just shimmed them up with beer cans. M A X might have one going spare from his days riding 700c, check with him.

Speak to maddie, I think she has one going spare if the one above is spoken for.

I think that's what you are supposed to do... I've got ali's old pompetamin and the plate is just zip tied on, seems to be strong enough just like that.

  • Amazing...

  • A frying pan?

  • so so awesome!

  • Must make a great sound.

  • Still prefer Hebden Ben's original frying pan guard. Just hose-clamped straight to the fork, handle and all. Did make a good noise.

  • Non stick too, which was probably more aero.

  • anyone got a pic of Bens polo bike?

  • yep, ben did it first. makes a lovley sound when hit. Why did no one get a pic of that?

  • He still believes cameras steal his soul.

  • i can go with that

  • Anyone ever called Marino? We're 3 frames down and no word from him. Could be an interesting phone call...

  • Speak much spanish?

  • I've just got confirmation through from our HR department that my
application for a bicycle loan has been approved...

  • I speak spanish. Could help with the call. Can get expensive to call to Peru...
