Geared wheels in 120mm width would be old 6spd screw on cassette. I don't know if you can still buy them new but there are a few around in the for sale sections of forums.
If your bike is in a decent bag then they shouldn't have any reason to stop you. I've had drivers over here just ask that the oily bits be covered so the chain and chainring. Your bag won't be any bigger than some of the stuff I've seen allowed on to a coach before.

It's up to the driver but I've got away with a bike wrapped in 2 laundry bags. Just make sure you arrive early and load it yourself.

If it was anything other than a polo'd on Pomp, I'd say coldset the stays to fit in a 135mm cassette hub, then use an emergency hanger for a derailleur. But polo'd Pomps have a habit of cracking on the chain stay so.... ?
Maybe a hub gear would go into it nicely? There are a few Pomps running Nexus 8speeds (dublinkev still runs one IIRC?)
I have no idea what the head angle/twitchyness vibe is with the 26 front, but would guess at a lot of wrist strain long distance, not to mention core strain due to the lower front end/riding position?
I am also gearing my 14 up for some touring in Germany in which I will be visiting our polo brethren. So far my plans are heavier tyres, half a 9speed cassette modified to fit onto the trials free hub body, and a longer stem to turn down the twitchyness...

With wht O'shane has said re: old wheel spacing, i'd get a service wheel like a Raleigh screw-on 700c (cyclesurgery sell them fr around 60quid) and an Etc.../Push screw on 5speed or 6speed freewheel, and the emergency hanger I was on about. Thumb shifter off eBay... You have gears! Those Etc... Freewheels come with a really wide gear ratio, too.

Some Shimano geared hubs can be spaced down to 126mm from 135mm. Possibly some other brands can be too but I don't know for certain.
This would fit - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shimano-3-speed-Internal-Rear-Hub-SG-3R40-36h-Roller-Brake-Comapitble-HB12-/320959728865 But it's only 3-speed

Iirc, all the one's with removable drum brakes can be spaced to 120 when the brakes removed.
Also you can get a new 5 speed screw on from loads of places, even halfords:

I had an Alfine 8 in there for a year or so but changed it back to s/s because 1) it was too heavy for playing polo with, and 2) I dont have the time to go up to NE polo any more at the weekend so didnt really need the extra gears just to spin to Newington. The Alfine 8 and Nexus 8 are 135mm. My frame is a Pompetamine frame which has wider spacing than a Pompino.
Has anyone here ever ran 26s on a Pompino?

Yeah, a rear 26 is stupid... Pedal strike city.
Aero bars is the answer. To everything ever.

120mm cassette hubs ---> PAGING TESTER.
They exist, I got it wrong last time I mentioned them.
Not cheap, but pimp and highly functional.

Think you're referring to this post: http://www.lfgss.com/post3525855-2038.html which was looking for 120 singlespeed cassette hubs. Might be possible to bodge some gears onto them.
Edit: do-able at least http://www.lfgss.com/post2792252-548.html

I used to use a 3 speed freewheel on my 120 steamroller with a shortcage road rear mech and friction thumb shifter on the seat stay, was good

Now This might sound stupid but could I screw a freewheel cassette onto my BLB hub? Would it fit?

You mean a block? Should be the same type of thread but get the ruler out to check how far it'll screw on.

On the geared wheel for pompino front, The SRAM s7 is 125 spaced.I Used to force one into a pomp frame. You'd have to make a guard to protect the click box thingy as It stick out about 30mm and is a bit flimsy.
hub gears are usually 135mm width
