Does the Archie Speedway bike have a 1/8" Head tube then?
-
• #1006
Nope... 1"
-
• #1007
Mr brown has a converter... mr VV has a 1" quill stem, as do i.

Ok, that narrows down the hunt for a suitable fork.
Any suggestions on a good strong fork for the Wilkinson? -
• #1009
what's the point in a strong fork when the frame is weak?
-
• #1010
Why do you say it is weak? From what i have heard and have been reading they are fairly strong.
Made steal similar to most OTP bikes. -
• #1011
ask JB about his, it bent.

and jonos is dented on the downtube from the break swinging round, never seen other frames dent there from similar impacts. not a good place for a dent.
cheap though, and you'll be playing polo sooner than if you save for a bruiser, so that's a good thing.

They are the strongest frame you can buy for the money, they are standard Cro-Mo with nice chunky welds. A strong fork isn't a bad idea, but I imagine the frame will crease if you crash into a wall at high speed.
My frame is dented because I wipe out all the time and the caliper hits the frame before my bars/levers do. I removed my chainstay bridge and it wasn't easy to get through the steel at all (professional hack-saw), I also broke several drill bits when lengthening the drop-outs and they were decent HSS+ ones (going from pilot to large hole). The steel is not particularly weak, Archie frames have been improved steadily over time and are designed to be abused.

JB? James Brown, Wooodrow said something about him.
Whats his user?
Any frame can be bent though?
What makes this frame week? -
• #1015
It has no gussets, the steel could be refined, etc.
-
• #1016
Got you, i don't really intend of wiping out on it all the time, but do intend on abusing it like a real bike should be! I am going to stick with it and get one at the end of the month if everything goes well. Can you recommend a good fork for it please?

Any chrome (marginally stronger than paint and more resistant to damage) fork with some rake, the Archie's have a really short steerer column, so I'd get any cheap fork off eBay, cut it down and then use a 1" threadless HS to get around the problem of cutting thread into a chromed fork. Get a shim and you can choose from loads of stems, etc. Jobs a good 'un.

i have some aluminium 1 inch ahead forks, cheap and good. PM for detals
-
• #1019
15 quid for raw on the left 1 1/8, 25 for ones on the right 1"
-
• #1020
Dude, I don't have the frame yet but i should be getting one soon, when I do ill pm asap, if anything changes ill tell you. I like the look of the ones on the left though!
-
• #1021
If the ones on the left are 1 1/8 then they won't fit, you'll need a 1" fork.
-
• #1022
will a fork with more rake than the standard one that comes with the complete allow the wheel to rotate 360 without the tire hitting the frame?
-
• #1023
No. You'd need less rake to be able to barspin, the trade off is that you'd have more toe overlap.
-
• #1024
you want to do polo or tricks??
-
• #1025
He says he's not going to wipe out, so I assume tricks...
Or at least he's not going to Play while I'm playing? :)
nobody knows, not even the owner.
but if you do find out, please let me know
