Canterbury was good, seems like they’ve got a fun scene going. The court was pretty gross: a combination of a really rough surface and dangerously slippy. Lunch was amazing (mutton/veggie tagines). Got lots of games in despite just one court.
We won a few, lost a few. Should’ve been closer the second time we played Sandblaggers (Emmet, Luca, Josh) – Emmet was already pretty wasted and still managed to score a top corner big shot with 10 seconds to go (we got knocked out 2-0 in the single elim quarter finals).
Sandblaggers lost to Chris P/Toni/Miles in an entertainingly scrappy golden goal semi-final. Chris & co went on to beat Beagle/Ben R/French Greg in the final.
Grantham crew were talking about hosting a tourney in the next month or so, could be a good one.

8Nice write up Harry. Canterbury have put a lot of effort into making their scene lots of fun. The tournament was great despite the court with good vibes all round, something others scenes should learn from.
Emmet's beer wizard staff was pretty epic too.

6I crudely attempted to true my wheel in my kitchen last night, no more loose spokes! (bit of a wobble though).
At the moment I get maybe 4 months from disc brake pads in my polo wheel - how are other finding this? -

6Neil - use sintered pads if you want them to last longer, they're harder wearing but harsher. If you're using them already and you want your pads to last less long switch to organic.

Chris I live in South Birmingham - all my stuff is organic, hand-woven, locally sourced.

I got 6 months out of my last set of sintered pads. I'm almost 5 months into my current ones and they seem ok.

Depends on how often you use your polo bike, I commute on it too on a daily basis 12 miles return and hence I run through organic pads in about 2 months, 3 months max.
Sintered/Metallic are good but TBH I didnt find much difference between them and organic in the wet altough many others swear by this. They do last longer but you lose a bit of modulation in the lever due to their tougher compound in my experience.
Edit: Sorry Maya, was supposed to reply to Neil's!
