• I think he means he's going to be in the library

  • hash is harsheek

i have no idea who master shredder is

  • pretty much.

  • Nice one, ill be there

  • hey all, im looking at coming up from london on Nov 1st and i wanna play some polo..do you guys start any earlier than 5pm? (trains and all)

  • Just a q from me in Cov might drop over one Sun to try out, are all sessions purely about playing practice matches or is there time spent working on specific techniques (e.g. hitting the ball cleanly)?

Its never been broken down into practice drills yet. Being able to play some games is the most important. Plus fin is the only one who seems to bring balls & equipment, not sure if he has a spare ball. Youd be welcome to practice hitting if you wanted but you may need your own ball.

  • Understand games is important, no worries.

  • The best practice is to play games. Practising drills doesn't give you a feel for the game.
    It's also loads more fun.

People generally pick it up quite fast and we're not mega competitive; only thinking about winning.
We have balanced teams, with those who've been playing for a while being quite magnanimous with the ball.

  • hyperallah is the definition of magnanimity. in about 4 months of playing, i've seen him shoot about twice...

  • yeah, i don't really think you can drill for polo. without looking massively idiotic.

just come and play. the general ethos in brum is to err on the side of timidity - i've been barged/hacked/nudged so rarely it's ridiculous; especially as i'm almost asking for it with my balletic moves...

after playing in the big smoke against the tough guys, i feel like a cuddly soft guy: cockneys = bullies.

  • also, i have a ball. so we don't necessarily need fin. although he is 20% of our regular turnout and it wouldn't quite be the same without him. let me state again how much the regular faces need to make/acquire their own mallets.

  • seems like we've lost a week of zinging conversation. sunday's weather looks awful; probably no polo...

  • *no* polo sunday 1st

  • whats that? Now polo sunday 1st? Cool, I'm on my way

  • i may be married and nearly a home-owner, but not even i would utter such a dad joke as that...

anyway. today turned out to be pretty much fine polo weather. weather reports are bloody awfully inaccurate. as winter looms, i reckon we should pretty much ignore forecasts and adopt an 'if it's not raining, we will be polo-ing (pending forum announcements)' policy.

  • ^ agreed

I was painting my house anyways so that and the weather forecast informed my decision.
Wed fo sho, last week was sick!

You get that uk polo email dan?

  • yeah - interesting although i'm not really sure how much we can add from birmingham... i like the idea of a national championship, but can't see going to newcastle/glasgow etc for a game of polo. it presents the same problems as our previous tournament visits - ie a long way to travel to get whooped a couple of times.

i'll definitely be up for another one-day tournament, but i don't think we could host it due to not being able to book a court. i also still really just want to play some throw-ins with better players. gotta plan a visit to some other town i guess...

  • polo tomorrow (wednesday)?

  • i'm in

hyper is in, last i heard....

  • me too

  • i take it the rain has cancelled polo tonight?

Wednesday polo traditionally occurs under in the shelter of the abyss that is the NIA carpark. It is not even actually raining though, Ive been outdoors for the past couple hours and it was fine.
