So good to be back today! Raz has got a lot better since I left, and good to see newbie Ross getting the winning goal in that last game.

mr Skiing knows my polo crack fix..'go on ball joint....know you want to......'
-
• #3404
There are times when jointing is useful, but you were much more dangerous on the attack today because you weren't jointing as it leaves you with the option to shoot.

How much play time at Calthorpe do we get due to the yokels/lights?
-
• #3412
depends, last week we got on at 7:50 and played til 9:50 (the lights were still on when we left) last week there was a lot of yamps there though, so hopefully there will be less tomorrow so we can get on at 6:45 after dinner

It's a no from me, still got no drive chain on the pink panther.

• #3418
What sort of chain do you need?

You can borrow a bike Sarah?
I'll bring my indestructible spare mallet in case Neil goes on a breaking rampage again!
-
• #3420
Neil, I don't know, I have a 16t single speed (fat) rear sprocket and a mountain bike (skinny bugger) 22t on the front, so a half link? dunno any more than that, but whatever fits really, tis only for polo now, that bike. I'd rather have a good fit on the rear sprocket as that's in better condition.
I tried a narrow mountain bike chain but it slipped as it couldn't sit on the sprockets, i'm hoping I don't need a tensioner.. but it's looking though I may..

Good to have Danski back. Fun, close games tonight.
Suggestion for future polo sessions; can we have lot more slow/B,C player games (maybe straight after a fast/A player game).
-
• #3422
I enjoyed tonight. We do usually have more slow games, not sure why we didn't earlier but I was actually about to say that I thought Ross, Raz and Mya played well considering.
-
• #3423
Sarah you just need a larger 1/8 inch chain. I have one if you want one, or you can just get any bmx or track train from your lbs....
-
• #3424
or just get a smaller rear cog?

Yeah - it's kind of pointless just mixing everything up, as the C players get dumped in goal or can't get into the outfield game. I usually take a more active role in shuffling games between fast/slow, but it was difficult last night with 3 people sitting out, not enough bikes, not enough mallets etc etc.

Sarah, it sounds like you're trying to put a 3/32" chain on a 1/8" sprocket. Easiest thing to do is get a 1/8" chain, as Neil says, but didn't you find your previous one was hooking up your big chainring up front? Alternatively, you could change your freewheel to a 3/32" one - I have a used 18t you can have for a fiver, or a new one for £10 (Shimano, so slightly better than Dicta ones which you can admittedly get for about £7).
