So, are we saying 6pm Highgate, 8pm Calthorpe, 9pm meeting? How many people in for the meeting? Show you're willing!

50/50 having a bike delivered, so if the delivery is prompt I'll be at Highgate for 6pm. Leaving at 8 though, was up at 5 30am to be in the salt mines on time.

I'll try to make it over for the meeting, won't be on my polo bike though as my oval chain ring is causing a lot of problems...

Do you need a new chainring? and luck getting the tensioner over? you can borrow bikes if you want to play, would be cool to have you down!

How do people feel about dividing up games more overtly? For example, we could alternate between 'fast' and 'slow' games. There will be a lot of crossover in players for both games, but if you're a beginner in a 'fast' game, you may have to stay in goal. If you're an experienced player in a 'slow' game, *you *might have to stay in goal, or at least focus on training/including beginners (who shouldn't have to play in goal).
Any thoughts?
We may have 9 tonight anyway, so we can play fixed teams.

This sounds good Dan, mixing up abilities though helps people improve, so I think a variation will be best.
We could do a mini league - fixed teams play each other twice.
Then beginners games and fast games.
Then completely random throw ins (If the random throw ins shuffle a good few against some newbies I think it's still beneficial to play, even if it won't be the most fun.)

Speaking as a beginner I am quite happy to pick up the game more gradually rather than diving into the deep end.I would welcome a more sructured system where I can learn the basics in beginners (slow) games and sit out and observe more advanced games. Also i think this is how everyone can develop there skills fastest.
Also I would like to say the friendlyness and openess has been very refreshing and most welcome.

I think I may need a new set of cranks to be honest. I've modified the tensioner so that it's in line so that's not a problem any more. I'll try to make it down this evening.

As far as ability-organised games go, I think tonight worked really well. I feel like I had several really good, fast competitive games, but it also seemed like the beginners had a nice mix of practice with better players and that awesome pretty-much-all-beginners game looked good too. In that game they all had a lot more of the ball than usual...
I think the only thing to improve life for the beginners is them having their own mallets, or at least having one for the duration of an evening, so they can shuffle in at will.

well I definately had a good time last night, which i am sure is the best measure. I also agree with dan a mallet would be useful and fingers crossed I will have one for sunday.
OK - 11.30ish. Any good for claudbutler/2squeak?
