^^ I keep thinking of you by Rodriguez was one of my fave tunes of 2011. Really like the reworking of the vocal snippet of Veronica's "Someone to Hold", fits in very well with the dubbiness of the track.
I'm really feeling the Asphodells album at the moment, Weatherall finally winning me over again after years in the wilderness after the Double Gone Chapel album, never felt the Wrong Meeting / Pox on Pioneers material. Slow chugging, eighties tinged 4/4 goodness, and his vocals actually hit the mark too.
http://www.rottersgolfclub.co.uk/Anyone here bought the Weatherall 3 CD on Ministry records? Once I heard it was on Ministry I avoided it but now after enjoying the Asphodells LP so much I think I'll buy it.
Also on the CD deck loads over the last fortnight is the Petre Inspirescu Fabric mix. Really interesting stuff, I guess you might pigeonhole it minimal but I think its more involving than that. The best Fabric mixes are the ones where the artist does all their own material (Villalobos, Omar S, Shackleton).

Weatherall Masterpiece is essential listening, you'll love it. Asphodells album is good, and agree about the pox on the pioneers, didn't get me at all

find his bloodsugar mixtapes, from the same era when he did a house night with Alex Knight
-
• #5187
Yeah I've heard some of them. I was at bloodsugar a couple of times (Dublin, and 333 old street, before it was shit (1997)), really enjoyed it.

it was at the blue note, not 333

You might be right, memory is hazy from that time.
I do recall seeing Weatherall in the basement of 333 at some point though...

wasn't a massive fan of Two Lone Swordsmen stuff, but Sabres of Paradise I totally loved.
the album he did a few years back - vs the Boardroom - that had it's 'dark' moments - and see if you can get hold of a mix he did on the London Xpress CD, also has Harvey and David Holmes - that is amazing

I vaguely remember that CD alright. But - I've made a vague promise to myself that from now on I am only going to buy music, especially house / electronic stuff, that's been released in the last 12 months.
It's too easy to get nostaligic when you get a bit older (I am 36 now) and wistfully look & listen back to the past (I feel that there is a bit too much classic house posted as youtube links in this thread), and start buying older material.
There is loads of good new stuff out there at the moment and I want to focus on that a bit more, just to keep my brain active and my ears open. I think going to Cafe Oto a few times made me want to listen to newer stuff.
Staying on thread - some of the other releases I've bought recently are:
Zip - Fabric mix
T Williams - Rinse mix
John Talabot - Fin
Andy Stott - Luxury ProblemsI've bought other stuff but calling it 'house' would be a stretch... even that Andy Stott one doesnt count, but it's so good, you should be made aware of it. Here's his boiler room performance to give you a flavour of his style if you arent familiar with it. Its very distinctive and cant picture myself at a club dancing to it, it's a slow, dubby, throbbing bass heavy sound, still 4/4, at minus eight.
