How are we surprised by this?
Arsenal lead, Spurs follow. And in more trolling: Liverpool and Anfield is a pretty poor show too.
-
• #91630
yeah that's been handled terribly

I'm not surprised by it, just amazed by how the council are bending over backwards to keep the club, and to a certain extent, screwing over the residents/businesses to keep Spurs happy.
I'm been thinking about diplomacy and compromise recently and the quote that comes to mind is supposedly from henry clay, but goes "a good compromise is when both parties are dissatisfied".
If this goes ahead I'm pretty sure that Spurs won't be dissatisfied in the least. Though the constituents of Haringey will be supremely dissatisfied..

It's fairly outrageous, I mean it's not like a football club would up and leave the place it's been associated with for years to go to another town. Is it?

If you miss the sarcasm, yes, I do mean Wimbledon.

Release clauses are good for that in general, just have a look at the clauses that Athletic Bilbao write in the contracts for their players. Didn't stop Llorente from leaving for nowt but at least he finished his contract and should Juve sell him they'll get a fair whack for compensation. I kind of like the idea of an agreed release clause. Put in something high and get paid accordingly. You perform, your salary increases and as a result the release fee increases. Javi Martinez is a good example of this. Luis Suarez is the polar opposite, so is Wayne Rooney.
It seems to be one of those things that doesn't happen in English football.
Such terms are prevalent all over the continent, are there different rulings here? surely it's all EU employment law etc...

No idea put the papers constantly wrote that Fellaini had one whilst at Everton. Purely based on that I'd say they do exist but are just not as common. I guess the PL teams were so used being top dog for such along time they didn't need to, or perhaps they were doing it like gentlemen (Suarez case being an example).

I hate harry kane. Steals a living so badly, however he has finally done something good to warrant still being in a spurs shirt.
He should be given to orient with a bag of haribo to say thanks

Toronto trying to sign Defoe.
I wanted Liverpool to sign him back in the day, so I it would be funny to see him running out for TFC.
At least he'd be able to show Robbie Earnshaw how to be a streaky striker.

looked like we sneaked the win at hull last night, who came out much stronger and ready to have a go.
siggurdson's goal was a cracker.
surprised that Kane got a goal, he's been on the fringes for a while, seems to be a perennial player in the england U21 set up, but hasn't set anything alight in his loan spells away from us. But his goal was a lively strike from the edge of the area, when we were on the ropes.
Friedel was at fault for both goals, his inability to come out and command his area, becomes more obvious with every game.
But he did save two penalties in the shoot out, so swings and roundabouts.
Think we need another young keeper who plays in a similar way to Lloris to be there so we don't have to drastically change how we defend since Friedel won't come out and play the sweeper keeper role.
More rotation.
Lamela seems to be improving, a little bit at a time..
We're through to the quarters, a chance to avenge the league defeat to West Ham, and for AVB to figure out a way to break down defensive teams at home, as Big Sam goes all 4 6 0. -

Isn't this just Big Sam's coaching manual?

No, Big Sam's moved on. 4-6-0? He's clearly no shit on a stick merchant.
I think he sold it on ebay to this guy:
