    God loves a trier

  • I honestly think he didn't realise that he kicked a lump out of the pitch and that he got kicked, nonetheless it makes him look like a very, very silly boy.

  • What with their obsession with history and the glory days of yesteryear, I would have expected one of our koppite's to start banging on about the national team's victory over the French a mere 599 years ago (recent history by their standards).

  • Super Sunday anyone?

  • razzismo sounds pretty cool though

sounds much more pleasant than plain old ordinary racism

Everything sounds better in Italian or with Italian pronunciation. I watched West Ham v City in a pub with Italian Sky, the commentator's pronunciation of Stewart Downing made him sound like a great player.

  • 599 years Ramaye?

    598 more like.

  • Just testing

Of course I would not dare argue with one who was there.

  • Is it time for the weekly predictions?

  • Crystal Palace 1 5 vArsenal
    Aston Villa 2 v 2 Everton
    Liverpool 1 v 1 West Brom
    Man Utd 0 v 1 Stoke
    Norwich 1 v 1 Cardiff
    Southampton 2 v 0 Fulham
    Sunderland 0 v 4 Newcastle
    Chelsea 0 v 0 Man City
    Swansea 3 v 1 West Ham
    Tottenham 2 v 0 Hull

  • Sad to see Holloway go, not sure whether I appreciate his honesty in saying he and the board got it wrong, and admiring him for leaving them enough time to try and turn it around, or to wonder how he and the board got it so wrong, in terms of player selection and transfer acumen.

Though was listening to the football weekly podcast on monday and Phillipe Auclair had some inside skinny on palace, by saying their big plan was to buy the best players from the championship but that all the selling clubs added on the british player premium, so they were looking at stewart downing/jordan henderson sums for players who hadn't shown they were premier league class.

Also Palace fans need to wind in their necks, they just made it into the promised land of the premiership and no one before the beginning of the season thought they would stay up. Why barrack the players and the manager for trying to attack and trying to play football and being beaten by "better" teams, there's no disgrace in that. Best to remember not so long ago they were on the verge of administration if they were relegated and to look for the club to use the money from what seems to be this ill fated tenure in the top flight to stabilise their finances, and to go back to the championship a stronger, wealthier club, and be more prepared for when they make it back the next time..

  • Crystal Palace v Arsenal 1-0
    Aston Villa v Everton 2-1
    Liverpool v West Brom 0-1
    Man Utd v Stoke 0-4
    Norwich v Cardiff 0-4
    Southampton v Fulham 1-2
    Sunderland v Newcastle 0-2
    Chelsea v Man City 1-3
    Swansea v West Ham 3-0
    Tottenham v Hull 1-2

An admittedly unlikely set of results, but one that would have Citeh top and United in 17th. Probably best that it doesn't happen as I want Moyes to stay on in case they replace him with someone with a clue.

Oh and Clive, Bez is from Salford and Curly Watts is yer typical (ex)Corrie City fan.

  • tottenham europa thoughts.

Sheriff played really well, closed us down, harried, tried to hit speedy counters when we lost the ball.
The high line means we are catching more teams offside as they try to launch balls over the top.
Chiriches looks classy, if a bit of a risk taker.
Lamela, showed some flashes, but still seems to be taking time to settle. Love AVB's handling of the situation, as well as his use of players in this competition. Using it as a chance to bed players in, as well as sharpening their competitive instincts as playing well in Europa means the chance of grabbing a first team place in the League.
Defoe did his thing against lesser competition.
Though we controlled possession, and were patient in the build up, Eriksen was quiet and we didn't vary our attacks enough to try and spring Lennon and Lamela quickly along the flanks.
Our ability to win this cup depends on who parachutes in from the Champions League.
I don't think AVB will weaken the team playing midweek, even after we qualify, he's using this competition as competitive practice, almost like a weekly preseason and we're better for it..
Wanted Adebayor to get a run out, he could be a big player for us this season, in terms of injury, loss of form and the number of competitions we could be in, so having another fit striker who fills the lone striker mould is essential.

  • I'd take a point at Chelsea given how we defended against CSKA. If Garcia starts, we'll get bummed.

  • Weekend pedos that matter:

    Derby County 3 - 0 Birmingham City

  • Lee Clark looked like a man on the edge after they got turned over by Leeds. I thought he was going to lose it with the interviewer when he started banging on about how everyone was 'obsessed with systems'. I give him until Christmas.

Kompany's out, so he probably will...........

You going to QPR away next week?

  • Not sure if I am in London, possibly though. What about you?

  • Yeah, was just looking at tickets. Can't find a link to get them online at the moment. Gonna take my brother I think.

  • Oh and Clive, Bez is from Salford and Curly Watts is yer typical (ex)Corrie City fan.

Salford is Manchester isn't it? Close enough anyway.

Curly Watts will do for next time. For now "Ken Barlow, one of your own" has a certain ring to it.

  • No No, Ken Barlow is United, they even have a song about him called viva Ken Barlow.

  • Lacks vitriol. 4/10.

    Saving it for Tuesday.

9,000 Chelsea supporters at the Emirates. £10 a ticket lower tier (£20 upper).
    Can't wait.

    You going?

  • I'm 100% plastic these days, Clive. I'd melt if I went to an actual game.
