So many LFC fans forums are doing my fucking nut with their bedwetting "why can't Spurs find their own scouts" nonsense. As though anyone we've looked at has never ever been seen or heard about by anyone else. Today is the day when Tottenham became (for the here and now) a bigger club than LFC and it will be a painful registration for them.
They're all saying Lamela but that already look dead in the water. For a club not oil rich they've really had the best business that I can remember.
For me I see a pattern emerging (reeposting myself but) What do Citeh, Chelsea, Spurs and Southampton have in common that United, Liverpool and Arsenal do not?
Transfer savy aka dedicated DIRECTORS of FOOTBALL. It's no coincidence they've got their dealings done quick, firm with little low balling and all have avoided the 'derisory/rejected out of hand' tags this window, too. The latter have had mostly disappointments and names besmirched.
Worst is after failing to land Martinez FSG dropped their plans for a DoF. This now means all their eggs are in the same Roger's basket. Seems daft given they admitted not really knowing anything about football. Oh well. Here's to Spurs knocking ManU off the top
sinks loney can of Super T's in the park
Their work makes a mockery of Wengers excuses and the overall you need CL to make good signings.

Wonder how many times liverpool has pinched a target when they were the biggest boy in the playground.
I remember Man U picking up Diego Forlan at the airport when he was on his way to meet with Boro.

Knobs. All my comments have been blocked by the mods. LFC keeping the heads in the sand since.....meh who cares.

Yup. In total agreement with MG and Tor-Kristian Karlsen reading DoF

We are now eying Spurs enviously ahead and nervously looking at the Saints and Swansea in our rear view mirrors

Have you just realised this or did the league table not state it clearly enough for the last 3 seasons? 10th place has been closer than automatic qualification for the CL.
LFC have got the 5th largest salary bill in the PL and have consistently under performed and my best guess is that this season will be pretty much make or break for FSG. Over the course of the last 3 season LFC have been the biggest underachievers and Everton have been the biggest overachievers in the top half of the table (salary vs. points ratio).

I think it's going to be an interesting season if only for the fact that Spurs will be much stronger this year and the gap between the top 3 and the rest is ever growing but the rest of the lot have all gotten a lot stronger.
Norwich, Southampton, Swansea, WBA, Villa and Sunderland have all made good signings.

spurs are painting themselves into a corner
the more people they buy, the more they have to sell bale, surely this gives madrid manure etc the upper hand knowing spurs have to sell -

"Craig Johnston describes Luis Suarez as the club's greatest ever player" - just on BBC. Aren't any kopites going to contend this? Rush? Fowler? Gerrard? King Kenny/Kev? What has Lector Suarez ACTUALLY done at Liverpool to get this accolade? I can't remember an off season where I've heard so much utter tosh.

Gareth Hotspurs can join Madrid knowing he can never do worse than Woody.

Liverpool sign left-back Aly Cissokho on a season loan from Valencia, subject to the completion of paperwork

was hoping all this tedious talk of transfers would stop now that playing has actually commenced.

Bit of both - in Woody's defence I don't think Bale can do much worse than Woodgate on the injury front.
-
• #86445
Woodgate did ok at real and left with his head high. Lil Micky on the other hand...
-
• #86446
Lil Micky didn't score an own goal and get two yellows (making a red) on his debut.

"England defender Jonathan Woodgate was voted the worst signing of the 21st century by readers of www.marca.com, the Web site for Spain's biggest selling sports daily. The 27-year-old was the runaway winner polling 37.11 percent of the votes cast on their Web page, the newspaper said."
First impressions and all that.
