Carroll is the third most expensive (transfer totals) English player EVER. Just Behind Darren Bent and Peter Crouch, something to aim for.

Well, I think in the context of the deal, he was a £35M striker.

Right at the end of the January transfer window, with no time to replace him, scoring loads of goals, and with £50M coming in from the Torres deal, why would Newcastle sell him for any less.

One can argue all sort of theoretical stuff about how much he's worth, but if two clubs agree a fee, that's what he is worth.

Today he's a £15M striker, as that's what it cost for Liverpool to sell him.

Tomorrow he might be a £25M striker, as that's what West Ham might let him go for.

Decent bit of business then...

So if people buy them at that price, then according to the definition, yes.
