Brenda at least gives a damn about Liverpool and has pandered where possible to its traditions and supporters.
TFSW has shown nothing but contempt for Chelsea and its supporters, both before he joined and more so since he joined. While the press speaks of how foolish it would be to be shot of Lampard, Benitez can onlyy say that Lampard is over rated, a fine way to get ht ebest out of a player. He creates a distance between supporters and players. He conspires to lose against West Ham and QPR. Don't give me nonsense about it being the home supporters fault. His tactical analysis of those games and the one against Swansea as well as the draws with Fulham and Man City and the loss in the World Club Cup was pathetic. He receives mopre abuse from Chelsea supporters at away games. That said, he has received relatively little abuse. Most of the so-called abuse is in fact appreciationh of DiMatteo a player who was idolised at the club, who ended his career in injury but who took shares in the club rather thana cash payment when his contract was terminated and the club received an insurance pay out because he appreciated the cash flow difficulties of the club and who was rewarded for his generosity and loyalty by benefiting from the Abramovich buy-out. And who then returned as assistant manager and ultimately was thrust into the manager's position because the club could find no one else but who still took Chelsea to an FA Cup and European trophy.
TFSW's opening record is thte worst of any of the past nine managers of the side with, arguably, the best squad. He has underperformed the useless Ranieri, the tragic Grant and the uncaring Scholari.
An interesting observation is that for most sides, the warm up is a useful piece of interaction betweeen supporters and players. TFSW does this primarily in the stand and not on the pitch thus detaching himself and the team further.
The reason for TFSW being brought in waas because he was meant to get the best out of Torres. Chelsea supporters have been very tolerant of Torres for two years. Sutton, Fleck and Kezman did not get as long. Neither did Drogba. Torres is now performing worse. 81 minutes against Swansea and 18 touches of the ball.
If we won the Capital One Cup, the FA Cup the Europa Leage and, somehow, the League itself, Benitez would still be unpopular. He does not understand the passion of the supporters. He doesn't care about them.

Aston Villa - Villa were picked up on maintaining temperature control, a lack of water being provided to certain units and a leaking drain pipe.
I wish these were the least of our issues.
I thought (and still do) that there are at least 3 worse teams than us,, but it's beginning to get very nasty looking. Young teams don't tend to get better towards the end of the season and we are way off safety form.
Don't particularly mind the 8-0 if we were showing some guts in the 6-pointers. Doesn't help getting ridiculous penalties given against us. That Lambert should audition for Tom Daley's show - the challenge was about 3 feet away.

I should add that I supported Ranieri even when he was clearly a muppeet; I supported Grant even when his tactical crassness cost us four trophies; I supported Schloari even when it was evident that he wanted to be elsewhere. I also gave support to AVB who was the wrong person for Chelsea and a pooor manager of men particularly in the circumstances in which he found himself.
I have never been more distanced from a Chelsea manager. Go back to the days of Geoff Hurst or Porterfield, I gave my backing.
Not to TFSW

Allowing him to mastermind the demise of a truly great team, ending an era and putting Taggart in a grave concealed in a casket made from the barrels of his own vineyard?

You'll never win 'owt with kids.
Actually Villa's situation isn't dissimilar to City in 1980/81, Malcolm Allison had built a youth based side who were struggling badly, he was sacked in December (I think) and John Bond came in. He signed two experienced pros in Tommy Hutchison and Bobby McDonald. We finished mid-table and got to the FA Cup final.
It all went horribly wrong 2 seasons later mind, but that wasn't really Bond's fault.

There are a lot of good young managers out there, I wouldn't be surprised if Steve Clarke's name isn't mentioned, or Laudrup's.
As a young manager its difficult now to show you can make the step up, it seems to be more of a leap of faith by the men who control clubs, since the power and the ability to win trophies is concentrated even more now than it was then.
Rodgers is hoping to do what Ferguson did back then, without having the cup/title winning resume of Fergie north of the border. Utd wanted to be what they were, and had fallen on hard times, perennial underachievers, who were never going to win the big cup until Fergie appeared.
And even if you do win the league elsewhere, the achievement is belittled over here, making it even harder for a manager to settle and show what he can do, so the young managers have to make do with what they have, and hope that a club can see their potential to win stuff, if given enough backing.
But even then, and I still call him young even though he's been at everton for a decade? now, managers like David Moyes don't get the call. I don't think he would have done it, but imagine what Moyes could have done if he'd taken over from Benitez, or from AVB at Chelsea, or if the Arse ever get rid of Wenger.
