  • What I would like to see in 2013 (other than the obvious).

    1.

  • happy new year clive
you started 2013 just as you left 2012 ... on sparkling form

  • Luckily for us there are currently a few teams in the league who seem determined to waste cash on players.

I think Arshavin and Chamakh will go to Reading and West Ham/QPR
    Santos back to Turkey
Squillaci isn't earning loads but is still very shit.

  • What I would like to see this year (other than the obvious great success for Chelsea and disappearance of TFSW).

    1. A number of high profile footballers to come out as gay and be accepted as footballers because sexuality has nothing to do with football.
    2. Sepp Blatter and Platini to disappear.
    3. FIFA and UEFA to be reorganised on ethical lines.
    4. Ivory Coast to win the ANL.
    5. The BBC to fire their entire football punditry and commentary team and replace them with people who approximate to humans. Why not listen to Test Match Special from the past and learn what good commentary/punditry is.
    6. Sky to do the same.
  • If we buy, I hope whoever it is turns out to be a surprise quality buy like Henry or Pires, rather than a much-heralded purchase who goes bad, like Na$ri or Reyes.

If Wenger had pulled on of these out the bag in the last seven years you might have won a trophy. So recent form dictates he'll deliver another Reyes.

  • Reyes. What a delightful man. What is he up to now I wonder?

  • Reyes? This Reyes?

Now back where he started, at Sevilla.

  • He's not playing an awful lot these days (he's only 29). He did score the fastest goal in a Seville derby last November.

What is it with Arsenal wingers and erratic behaviour (on and off the pitch)?

    List of erratic wingers:

    1. Paul Merson
    2. Glenn Helder
    3. Jose Antonio Reyes
    4. Arshavin
    5. Rosický

  • What I would like to see in 2013

    • Referees to hand out cards to every single player who thinks that rushing up to them and screaming in their face is an acceptable way to react to a decision that's gone against them. If yellow doesn't work, move on to red
    • Referees to explain their reasoning for decisions in post-match interviews
    • Pundits to stop using the term "stone wall"
    • Goalkeepers to be allowed only one of two colours of shirt - green, or yellow
    • UEFA and FIFA to tackle racism, rather than worry about protecting their economic interests (and while we're on the subject, an end to casual racism in this thread)
    • More women in football
    • Less editing of Clive's weather reports
    • A complete ban on football highlights shows giving away what's going to happen next. This has improved immeasurably since ITV lost the rights, but the Football League Show still does it for its non-feature games
Good call from Clive on gay footballers too.

    7. Margaret Thatcher

  • list of players we think will " come out " this season
    1.

  • Couldn't agree more with Landslide but it's not going to happen in our lifetime.

If #4 would happen we would miss out on beauties like this:

    1. Cards and penalties given for attempting to strip oppo attackers at corners
    2. Blatter to to fall, or be putsched
    3. ACN to pass off peacefully
    4. A lower division team to win the FA Cup
    5. 606 to be manned exclusively by Danny Baker, or binned
    6. Joke penalties for racism to fuck right off (it currently works out at about 60p in fines for each banana thrown at a black player, which is still cheaper than Pret) - Serbia penalty to be upgraded with extreme(ly ironic) prejudice and a few other harsh lines drawn in the sand
    7. Clubs worldwide to be held more accountable for their ultras' behaviour outside grounds
  • Reyes was the twerp who scored just before half time in the second leg of the Arsenal v Chelsea CL quarter final. Spurred on by that oaf Terry Henry, he ran to the Chelsea crowd to celebrate. He then left the pitch at half time as though the game was done and dusted. After that, only one team was going to win that game. Still counts as one of my favourite evenings at football ever. Also only time I got to walk home from an away CL game.

    1. Robbie Savage to fuck off
